Can dogs eat plum flesh?

Preparing a plum
- Remove the pit before giving any flesh to your dog.
- Discard the pit securely so your dog cannot chew or swallow it.
- Offer only a small amount of flesh; do not treat it as a necessary part of the diet.
My dog ate a plum pit—what should I do?
Contact your veterinarian, an emergency veterinary clinic, or an animal poison-control service for advice based on your dog and what happened. This is especially important if your dog swallowed a pit or ate a large amount of fruit or pits. A professional can advise whether your dog needs an examination or other care.
Do not induce vomiting or try home treatment unless a veterinarian or poison-control professional instructs you to do so. AKC and Pet Poison Helpline both advise getting professional guidance rather than attempting treatment on your own (AKC; Pet Poison Helpline).

What fruit or produce is a better dog treat?
AKC names apples, blueberries, strawberries, pumpkin, and watermelon among produce options commonly recommended for dogs. Prepare each option appropriately: remove apple seeds and the core, and remove watermelon rind and seeds. Treat these foods as occasional extras rather than substitutes for balanced dog food.
