How to choose cardboard furniture for your cat
Start with your cat’s preferred activity and scratching direction rather than the product’s theme or shape. A cat that scratches flat surfaces may use a bed-style scratcher; a climber may get more from a multi-level structure. If your cat likes enclosed spaces, consider a house with a scratch pad. 2. ASPCA Cat House & Scratcher — Catster’s best value
This option combines an enclosed hideaway with a replaceable scratch pad, and Catster says catnip is included. It collapses for storage but requires assembly. The roundup notes reports of odor and of houses collapsing after cats chewed them, so consider your cat’s chewing habits and check the current listing for construction and care details.

It has scratch pads inside and outside, with both vertical and horizontal surfaces, plus hanging toys. The roundup reports double-walled construction using recycled paper products and virgin wood pulp. It also reports a 90-day warranty and possible eligibility for a 60-day Worry Free program; verify current terms with the seller before relying on either. Catster notes that some cats showed no interest and that buyers complained about the assembly instructions.
