The FDA-posted notice says Dave’s Pet Food announced a voluntary recall on June 12, 2018, involving one lot of 13-ounce Dave’s 95% Premium Beef canned dog food because it could contain elevated beef thyroid hormone. The company announcement stated that 548 cases were involved. It listed the affected product code and date details, and the FDA entry now says the recall has been terminated. In the announcement reproduced by FDA, Dave’s said, “No other Dave’s products, or any other product manufactured by Dave’s Pet Food, are impacted.” That statement described the scope of that 2018 event, not all products or future recall status. Cat Food Advisor says it found no Dave’s cat-food recalls and identified two recalls of the company’s dog foods. That is the reviewer’s reported finding, not an exhaustive official historical record. The FDA notice cited above concerns dog food; it does not establish that no Dave’s cat-food recall has ever occurred. The FDA explains that recalls may be initiated by a company, requested by FDA, or ordered by FDA. FDA says ingredients must be listed from most to least by weight. Its pet-food overview also describes required label information, including product identity, net quantity, and the manufacturer or distributor’s name and place of business.
