Those warranty periods belong to the historical catalog and should not be treated as current coverage. An old catalog, an auction listing or a reel shown beside a G. Loomis rod does not establish that the model is still manufactured.
Are G. Loomis Venture reels discontinued?
There is no current official G. Loomis reel listing to support ongoing production of the Venture family. In practical terms, Venture reels should be treated as discontinued or previously produced. A Venture 3 listing may represent used stock, old retailer inventory or a private sale; the existence of such a listing is not evidence of a current production run.

What to check on a Venture or other older model
- Confirm the exact model and spool configuration from markings on the frame and spool.
- Ask whether the drag turns smoothly through its range and whether the spool runs without side play.
- Check for corrosion, deep scratches, bent rims and missing screws or handles.
- Verify that the seller can supply a backing-and-fly-line capacity appropriate to your line weight.
- Assume historical warranty terms may no longer apply unless the seller or manufacturer confirms otherwise.
Where can you buy a G. Loomis fly reel?
Search specifically for “G. Loomis Venture fly reel,” then expand to EastFork and Current if the Venture models do not meet your needs. The realistic sources are used-gear marketplaces, vintage tackle dealers, fly-shop consignment cases and remaining retailer stock. Availability, condition and price can vary sharply because these are not presented as current official products.
Before paying, request clear photographs of the drag housing, reel foot, spool edge and line-retrieval mechanism. Establish whether the reel is right- or left-hand retrieve, whether a spare spool is included and whether replacement parts are available. A low purchase price can be offset by a damaged spool or unobtainable drag components.

What reel should you pair with a G. Loomis fly rod?
Choose by the rod’s line weight and intended water, not by brand name alone. The reel should hold the specified fly line plus backing, balance the rod comfortably and provide a drag suitable for the fish and environment. For saltwater use, corrosion resistance and sealed or well-protected drag components matter more than matching logos; for freshwater trout, weight and smooth, reliable operation may be the priorities.
A practical matching checklist
- Read the line-weight designation printed on the rod.
- Use a reel size whose stated capacity covers that line and adequate backing.
- Check the reel’s actual weight against the rod so the outfit does not feel tip-heavy.
- Confirm retrieve direction and whether the reel can be converted.
- For an older G. Loomis reel, verify parts and service support before making it your primary setup.
Because current G. Loomis pages do not provide a fly-reel specification table, there is no documented present-day G. Loomis reel that can be recommended as an official companion to a current rod. A current reel from another manufacturer may be the more supportable choice when new parts, warranty service or a particular capacity are important.

Why do G. Loomis and Shimano pages appear together?
Shimano’s corporate history says G.Loomis was established in 1982 in Woodland, Washington, and that in 1997 it became a subsidiary of Shimano American Corporation, now Shimano North America Holding, Inc. That ownership explains why current G. Loomis products appear within Shimano North America’s online catalog. Shimano’s corporate description centers G. Loomis on fishing-rod manufacturing, consistent with the absence of a current reel range in the official listings.
Bottom line for buyers
G. Loomis made fly reels in the past, including Venture, EastFork and Current, while Syncrotech was documented as obsolete by November 2006. The current official catalog shows fly rods but no active G. Loomis fly-reel line. Treat Venture, Venture 3 and similar reels as used, vintage or remaining-stock purchases, and evaluate condition, capacity, balance and parts support before buying.
