Edgard & Cooper sells both complete cat foods and complementary fillets, and that distinction matters most. The brand describes its adult chicken kibble and adult turkey-and-chicken chunks in gravy as complete foods; its tuna fillets with chicken are complementary and should not be used as a cat’s only food. The available evidence supports a practical review of the brand’s stated recipes, formats and calorie figures—not a claim of independent testing or proven health benefits.
Is Edgard & Cooper cat food complete?
Some products are. Edgard & Cooper’s product pages describe its adult chicken kibble and adult turkey-and-chicken chunks in gravy as complete foods for adult cats, including sterilised cats. Its tuna fillets with chicken are explicitly labeled complementary food. Check the intended nutritional role on the particular product’s label: wet or dry format alone does not tell you whether a food is complete.
FEDIAF’s 2025 Nutritional Guidelines define complete pet food as food sufficient for a daily ration. FEDIAF explains that a complete food fed as the only nutrient source over the intended life stage will provide the needs of the animals and life stage for which it is intended. This is general European guidance, not an endorsement or independent test of any Edgard & Cooper recipe.
Complete meals and complementary fillets
| Product example | Role stated by Edgard & Cooper | What that means for feeding |
|---|---|---|
| Adult chicken kibble | Complete food; described as suitable for adult cats, including sterilised cats. Brand product page | Presented as a main food for its stated life stage; follow the package feeding guide. |
| Adult turkey-and-chicken chunks in gravy | Complete food; described as suitable for adult cats, including sterilised cats. Brand product page | Presented as a main food for its stated life stage; follow the package feeding guide. |
| Tuna fillets with chicken | Complementary food. Brand product page | Use alongside complete food, not as the sole diet. The brand advises limiting fillets to no more than 10% of daily calories. Brand complete-versus-complementary guide |
The brand’s guide also lists cat pâté as complete and fillets as complementary. Its advice is that fillets should be paired with complete food. A palatable topper or treat can add variety, but it does not replace the nutritional role of a complete diet.

Adult turkey-and-chicken chunks in gravy
This is a complete, grain-free wet food according to the product page, which also says it is suitable for sterilised cats and advertises “0% added sugar.” It was listed in single 85 g portions and an 18-pack when checked. Tuna fillets with chicken
The product page identifies these as complementary food and describes the tuna as MSC-certified. Because the product is not a complete diet, its place is as a treat or topper alongside complete food, within the brand’s stated calorie limit for fillets.
What is in the food—and what “natural” means here
In a June 14, 2024 FAQ, Edgard & Cooper says meat or fish makes up 50% of its cat kibble recipes. The same overview mentions potatoes and peas, as well as vitamins and minerals, linseed, yeast, dried chicory, salmon oil, herbs and taurine among ingredients used across the range. This is a brand-level description of its kibble range, not a verified ingredient panel for every recipe or format. For a specific flavor, use the current product composition on the package or product page.

In a February 3, 2026 FAQ, the company says its recipes contain no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. It also says some recipes include stabilized, fortified vitamins and minerals, and that an asterisk in the composition marks ingredients it considers fully natural. The company says its cat fillets have no added vitamins or minerals because they are treats intended to supplement regular food, not serve as a primary food source. “Natural” therefore does not mean every product is unfortified or nutritionally interchangeable.
How do the formats compare on calories?
Calorie density differs enough that equal gram portions of kibble and wet food are not interchangeable. Edgard & Cooper’s calorie FAQ, dated July 28, 2026, gives these figures:

These are manufacturer figures for the named recipes and formats, not universal values for every product. Use the feeding instructions on the exact package and account for treats and toppers when considering the daily ration. The brand provides a feeding calculator, but there is no single amount suitable for every cat. Ask your veterinarian for guidance when your cat has a health condition, weight concern or special life-stage needs.

- Confirm nutritional role: choose a product labeled complete for a main diet; treat complementary fillets as an addition, not a substitute.
- Check life stage and suitability: the cited product pages are for adult foods and mention sterilised cats. Confirm the label is appropriate for your cat’s age and circumstances.
- Compare the exact composition: ingredient lists vary by recipe and format. The brand’s 50% meat-or-fish statement refers to its kibble overview, not every item in the range.
- Compare calories and portions: use the figure and feeding directions for the particular recipe, especially when switching between dry and wet food.
- Check the local listing: pack sizes, price, availability and product details may differ by country and change over time.
What the available evidence can—and cannot—show
The public material considered here consists primarily of manufacturer product pages and FAQs, alongside FEDIAF’s general 2025 nutritional guidance. It describes the brand’s stated food roles, ingredients and calories, but does not establish independent feeding-trial results, a laboratory comparison across the range, or a full independent audit of nutrient panels. It therefore cannot support claims that Edgard & Cooper is clinically superior, suitable for every cat, or proven to improve digestion, coat, weight or urinary health. Customer reviews are individual testimonials, not controlled evidence of those outcomes.
For a food decision, the strongest practical distinction is still the label: the cited adult kibble and chunks are described as complete, while the tuna fillets are complementary. For an individual cat’s medical or nutritional needs, consult a veterinarian.
