There is no verified Pitsky feeding chart that sets a precise portion by age and weight. Pitskies are mixed-breed dogs, and their adult size and calorie needs vary. Use the feeding directions on a complete food that matches your dog’s life stage as a starting point, then adjust with your veterinarian based on growth, body condition, activity, health, and weight trend. An exact cup or gram amount also depends on the food’s calories per cup or gram.
Why age and weight alone do not determine a Pitsky’s portion
The available guidance establishes general dog-feeding principles and food-specific directions, not a Pitsky-by-age chart or a verified Pitsky adult-weight range. A mixed-breed label does not predict one mature size or calorie requirement. Two Pitskies of the same age and scale weight may need different amounts because their growth, body condition, activity, and health differ.

For an individual target, a veterinarian can consider the dog’s expected adult size, current condition, activity, and health. The amount printed on a food package is a starting point rather than a guarantee. AAFCO explains: “Feeding directions are guidelines that may need revising based on a particular animal’s activities and condition.” See AAFCO’s guide to selecting the right pet food.
How to choose a starting amount at each life stage
Puppy: feed for growth
Choose a complete-and-balanced food labeled for growth, and use its directions for the puppy’s age and expected adult weight. Puppy feeding charts often rely on expected adult weight because the dog is still growing; a veterinarian can help estimate that size when it is unclear. Growing puppies have different nutrient needs from mature dogs, so do not substitute adult-maintenance directions for a growth diet. AAFCO explains pet-food life stages and nutritional adequacy.

As an illustration—not a Pitsky prescription—PetMD’s chart lists 734 kcal per day for a 20-pound puppy over four months old. That general chart value was published in an article updated September 19, 2025; puppy calorie needs can vary substantially with body condition. Follow the chosen food’s label and your veterinarian’s plan for your puppy rather than applying that number as a feeding target. PetMD’s puppy feeding guide.
Near adulthood: time the food transition by growth, not appearance alone
A puppy that looks nearly full-grown may still be developing. Merck says a less nutrient-dense diet than a growth diet is generally recommended once a dog reaches approximately 90% of expected adult weight; growth and skeletal maturity may continue later in large and giant breeds. Because a Pitsky’s mature size can be uncertain, ask your veterinarian when growth is sufficiently complete and which life-stage food is appropriate. Adult: use maintenance directions, then assess the dog
For an adult, start with the chosen complete adult food’s maintenance directions. Treat the stated amount as the total for the day and divide it into regular meals. Most adult dogs benefit from portion-controlled meals rather than unrestricted access to food. Adjust the ration to maintain healthy weight and body condition: activity, lean mass, age, environment, and health can all change energy needs. Age by itself does not establish that a senior Pitsky needs a smaller portion or a special senior formula. Keep an eye on body and muscle condition, and review the food and intake with your veterinarian if weight, activity, appetite, stool, or health changes. How to calculate a measured daily portion
- Get an individual calorie target when one is needed. Ask your veterinarian for guidance if your dog is growing, underweight or overweight, unusually active, ill, or has other special needs.
- Confirm the food’s life stage and directions. Check the package for its nutritional-adequacy statement and feeding chart. Use directions that match the dog’s life stage and, for a puppy, age and expected adult weight.
- Check the food’s energy density. Find its metabolizable energy in kcal per cup, can, or gram. Divide the veterinarian’s daily calorie target by the calories in the unit you will measure. For example, the calculation is daily kcal target ÷ kcal per cup = cups per day. Without the exact food and its calorie density, a cup or gram amount cannot be calculated reliably.
- Count extras in the daily total. Include treats and other food. Ask the veterinarian how to account for them if weight control is a goal.
- Measure and monitor. A measuring cup or kitchen scale can help deliver a set ration, but neither determines the right target. Track weight and body condition, and ask the veterinary team to assess body and muscle condition during routine visits. Revise the amount if the dog trends away from a healthy condition. AAHA’s guidance; AAFCO’s label guidance.
What to watch as you adjust the ration
- Weight trend: weigh your dog regularly and look for a sustained trend rather than reacting to one reading.
- Body and muscle condition: ask your veterinarian to assess both; scale weight alone does not show whether a dog is in ideal condition.
- Growth: for a puppy, use growth and expected adult size when interpreting the food’s chart, and review progress with the veterinary team.
- Changes in routine or health: changes in activity, appetite, stool, or health are reasons to review intake and food choice with your veterinarian.
