Tank size is a useful first filter, but it does not settle the choice by itself. Stocking, aquarium layout, fish tolerance for current and keeper preferences all affect what works well. When models overlap
A 200 L aquarium falls within both the 250 and 350 ranges; a 250 L aquarium overlaps all three. In those cases, do not automatically choose the larger model based only on the maximum tank rating. What the professionel 4+ features do
EHEIM lists a prefilter, self-priming aid, removable media baskets, a safety hose adapter and Xtender control for the professionel 4+ range. The features address setup and maintenance, but they do not make the filter maintenance-free.
Prefilter and removable baskets
The prefilter catches coarse debris before water reaches the other filter media. Removable media baskets make it possible to take out and service media in stages. EHEIM’s professionel 4+ 350 product page describes these features, along with the included setup components.

Xtender control
EHEIM describes Xtender as a way to temporarily increase flow when fine media becomes clogged: water is redirected so it can bypass that restriction while biological filtration remains in operation. EHEIM says this can postpone cleaning for a few days. Treat that as extra time to service the filter, not a substitute for cleaning it.
Setup accessories and included media
EHEIM says the professionel filters include original filter media and setup accessories such as inlet and outlet pipes and hoses. Check the regional listing for the exact contents and model number before buying, since product numbers can vary across markets.

Consider eXperience if its specification suits your setup
EHEIM’s 2023 catalog also lists the eXperience 150, 250 and 350. These are another external-filter range to compare if their tank ratings or feature priorities fit better; the catalog’s tank ranges alone are not enough to establish which range is better overall.

Check the exact model and regional version before ordering
The catalog lists professionel 4+ standard models 250, 350 and 600, as well as 250T and 350T heater variants. EHEIM’s 250 product page confirms thermo variants are available for the 250 and 350. The catalog and product pages may show region-specific product numbers, so confirm the SKU, variant and included fittings in the listing for your market. The cited material does not establish a 600T variant.
