Keep the cat’s head neutral rather than tipped upward, and do not aim the liquid toward the back of the throat. Use only the dose and handling instructions on the prescription label or from your veterinarian.
Prepare the medicine and your cat
- Check the prescription instructions. Confirm the prescribed amount and when to give it. Shake, mix, warm, or store the medicine only as directed for that specific product. If an instruction is unclear, ask the prescribing veterinary team.
- Measure the dose before bringing your cat over. Use the provided oral syringe or an appropriate dosing syringe or dropper to draw up the directed amount. The syringe measures and delivers the dose; it does not determine what dose your cat needs.
- Choose a quiet place. Have a towel ready. If a wrap would help, wrap your cat gently with the head uncovered. A second person can steady the towel, but should not squeeze or compress the cat. Stop if you cannot handle your cat safely.
Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine’s oral-medication guidance and VCA’s instructions for giving liquid medicine to cats both describe using a syringe or dropper and taking care with positioning and delivery.

Give the liquid slowly from the side of the mouth
- Let your cat sniff or lick the syringe tip if willing.
- If your cat will not lick it, gently position the tip at the side of the mouth, just behind a canine tooth, and angle it toward the tongue.
- Keep your cat’s head in a neutral position where possible. Cornell specifically advises: “If giving a liquid, do not tilt your cat’s head upward.” VCA describes gently tilting the head back slightly if needed to open the mouth; do not interpret that as an instruction to tip the head upward for liquid delivery.
- Press the plunger in small amounts, pausing between them so your cat can swallow and breathe. Do not squirt a fast stream straight toward the back of the throat.
Can you mix the medicine with food?
Only if the prescription allows food. VCA says a small amount of canned food can be used when the medicine does not need to be given on an empty stomach. Offer a small portion by hand so you can tell whether your cat consumes the full dose. Check the label or ask your veterinarian before mixing medicine with food; if your cat leaves any behind, you may not know how much medicine was taken.

What if your cat spits some out?
Do not automatically give another dose. Your cat may have swallowed some before spitting, and an extra dose could mean giving more than prescribed. VCA advises not to re-medicate unless you are certain that none of the medicine was swallowed. If you are unsure how much went down, contact the prescribing veterinarian for specific instructions rather than estimating or repeating the dose.

- This cat pill shooter comes with two silicone soft tips. One of the tips has cracks, so the tip can be opened to clamp the pill. (don't use the cracks to clamp pills, please use the 2 sides of the silicone tip to clamp pills). Another tip has no cracks and can be used for feeding water or liquid medicine. (If the crack is not large enough to clamp the pill, you can use scissors to enlarge the crack. The tip for liquid feeding can also be cut cracks to feed the pill.) This product does not have a spring device, so the pill will not pop out quickly, but will be pushed out.
- Made of high quality silica gel, reusable and washable. Product size: 5.9x1.97inches. Product weight: 1.06 ounce. Especially for feeding solid medicines, pills, capsules to pets. (It's suitable for size of pill between 0.15-0.4 inches.)
- NOTE: 1.The soft tip must be completely sleeved on the top, ensure that it will not fall off during normal use. 2.Ensure that the tip and injection tube are in the same straight line, so that the push rod can smoothly impact on pill and push it out. 3.Do not stick the soft tips into pet's throat to prevent the tips from getting stuck in the throat. The correct use is to put the soft tip to the posterior position of tongue, then use the push rod to push out the pill and let the pet swallow it by himself. 4.Do not stuff the pill tightly into the soft tip, avoiding the pill not being able to be pushed out or the soft tip falling off with the pill. Gently clamping it is correct.
- NOTE: Please make sure to check all accessories and installation before use. Please try using it before use to ensure it works properly without any fault.
- Due to aging or wear of plastic and silicone parts over time, please replace them with new ones after 1 month of use.
