The Chapter 7 Season 3 quest asked players to “Rescue or pet John Wick’s dog.” Historical guides place the caged dog at Sinister Strip, with GamesRadar+ also reporting the Battlewoods sewers as an alternate location. The quest window ended on August 19, 2026, so this walkthrough is for players revisiting the challenge—not a promise that it can still unlock the Sidekick today.
How to complete the dog-rescue quest
- Check the casino or hotel lobby at Sinister Strip for the caged dog. GameSpot reported this location; GamesRadar+ also listed the sewers in the northeast of The Battlewoods as an alternate spawn area. Neither guide says the dog is guaranteed to appear in one spot every match. GameSpot and GamesRadar+
- Defeat the NPC guards around the cage, as described by GamesRadar+.
- Interact with the cage to release the dog, then interact with the dog to pet him.
- If another player has already freed him, GameSpot reported that you could still approach and pet him.
The steps above reflect those outlets’ historical guides, rather than firsthand testing.

Is the quest still available?
No seasonal availability should be assumed. The Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass quest window is listed as June 6 through August 19, 2026, and had ended by October 7, 2026. The available information does not establish whether the Sidekick reward later became obtainable another way.
Check Fortnite for currently available Sidekick quests
Epic’s support instructions say to open the Quests tab and select Sidekicks in the left navigation. Alternatively, open Locker, choose Sidekicks, select a Sidekick, then choose Go to Quest. If all quests for a Sidekick are complete, it no longer appears in that area; the Go to Quest option is also absent when there are no remaining quests. Epic Games Support

Do not confuse it with the John Wick Sprite quest
Epic’s “Master John Wick Sprite” support article describes a separate challenge: finish the first two Sprite Contract challenges, level the John Wick sprite to level 5, and extract it. Those steps are not part of the dog-rescue quest. Epic Games Support
