Howl-O-Ween celebrations bring dogs and their people together for costume parades, judged contests and other pet-friendly activities—but each event sets its own schedule and rules. Here are costume ideas documented at a major New York parade and details organizers have published for three separate events, including two scheduled for October 2026.

The format depends on the organizer. Some events center on a dog parade and costume contest; others add pet businesses, rescue groups, educational booths, food trucks or a pet food drive. The examples below are independent events in different cities, not details of one shared celebration.
