Humane Fort Wayne will host a Subaru Loves Pets adoption event on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Zeigler Subaru of Fort Wayne, 502 Coliseum Blvd W, Fort Wayne, IN 46808. Adoptable dogs and kittens are expected. Humane Fort Wayne’s shelter will be closed that day, so visitors interested in adopting should go to the dealership.
When and where is the adoption event?

Should you apply before the event?
Applying ahead may help you be ready to adopt, but confirm the current process with Humane Fort Wayne because the dealership’s published preparation guidance does not establish the requirements for the 2026 event. That guidance recommends applying in advance and says pre-approved adopters receive priority; it also says anyone not yet approved must be approved before adopting. Zeigler Subaru event guidance
The dealership’s general guidance also advises adopters to ensure resident pets are spayed or neutered and current on shots, and to bring a paper rabies certificate from a veterinarian rather than a rabies tag. It warns that the adoption process may take a few hours. Check with Humane Fort Wayne to confirm whether these instructions apply to this event. If you adopt a kitten, bringing a carrier for the trip home is a practical option, though the event listing does not say one is required.

Zeigler Subaru describes its partnership with Humane Fort Wayne as an annual October adoption event under Subaru Loves Pets. The dealership also reported that 23 pets found homes in one day in 2024; that is a historical account, not a forecast or count for the October 2026 event.
