A Husky featured in a viral clip would rather stay on the couch than join his owner for exercise. DogTime’s October 5, 2026 report says the video was shared by Instagram account @thebreakfastband. The brief scene is funny, but it doesn’t tell us why this particular dog doesn’t want to move.
What happens in the clip?
DogTime describes the Husky lying comfortably on a couch while his owner tries to get him moving. The report doesn’t identify the dog or establish his age, health, usual activity, or what happened before or after the video. So the couch-potato description is a playful take on one moment, not evidence that the dog is generally inactive.
Why might a Husky resist a walk?
A short clip can’t show whether a dog is simply content to rest, feeling uneasy about something outside, uncomfortable, or unwell. The American Kennel Club (AKC) notes that some dogs experience anxiety on walks, sometimes in response to particular triggers. Without more context, it isn’t possible to say what explains this dog’s behavior.
For your own dog, a sudden change in willingness to move or signs of discomfort are reasons to pause rather than push harder. Ask your veterinarian about a change in behavior before starting an intense routine or increasing activity.

How much exercise does a Husky need?
The AKC characterizes Siberian Huskies as active, athletic working dogs who need exercise and mental stimulation. It suggests daily walks or dog play groups as possible activities for urban owners, while emphasizing that a dog’s plan should suit the individual.
DogTime’s October 5, 2026 article says Huskies need “at least one to two hours of intense exercise every day,” but it does not name an original study or authority for that figure. Treat it as DogTime’s general statement, not a verified scientific finding or a prescription for the Husky in the clip. AKC guidance recommends getting veterinary advice and increasing activity in increments when pursuing a new fitness goal.

Keep outings controlled and comfortable
AKC advises keeping Huskies on a leash, in a harness, or in a fenced yard because they may run if given the opportunity. A dog walking harness can be one way to maintain control on an outing; it won’t make a reluctant dog want to exercise.
If walks seem stressful, consider what might be bothering your dog and discuss suitable alternatives with your veterinarian. AKC’s guidance on walking anxiety covers trigger-related stress and ways to support dogs on walks. For a new exercise goal, its fitness-plan advice recommends a veterinary check-up and gradual increases based on veterinary guidance. AKC also advises seeking veterinary approval before running with a dog, since age, breed, and overall health affect whether that activity is appropriate.
