Farm listing advertised a Dick Button Animal Rescue Palooza Day for October 3, 2026, at 115 June Road in North Salem—but the available information does not confirm whether it took place or identify any beneficiaries. The event listing gives the story its animal-rescue theme; Button’s documented local connection was Ice Pond Farm, where he and Dennis Grimaldi hosted Garden Conservancy Open Days.
What is known about the North Salem animal-rescue tribute?
A search result for D.I.G. Farm Inc’s Zeffy page listed “Dick Button Animal Rescue Palooza Day” for October 3, 2026, at 115 June Road in North Salem. The listing is available at D.I.G. Farm Inc’s Zeffy page, but the event page could not be opened for verification. Because the scheduled date has passed, the listing alone does not establish that the event occurred.
Nor does the available information establish which animal-rescue organizations, if any, benefited, whether funds or donations were collected, or whether animals were placed. The event should therefore be understood as a scheduled listing, not a confirmed outcome or a verified opportunity to donate or volunteer.
Why Dick Button had a North Salem connection
Button and his husband, Dennis Grimaldi, hosted Garden Conservancy Open Days at their North Salem property, Ice Pond Farm. The Garden Conservancy says those visits began with its first Open Day in 1995. Its remembrance describes a garden shaped by the property’s meadow and pond views, with a kitchen garden, fountains, a bocce court lined with crabapple trees, and a circle garden reflecting Button’s love of skating. The skating legacy behind the name
Button died in North Salem on January 30, 2025, at age 95, NBC Sports reported the next day. He won Olympic gold in 1948 and 1952, becoming the first U.S. man to win Olympic figure-skating gold. His competitive milestones included the first double Axel landed in competition, at the 1948 St. Moritz Games, and the first three-revolution jump landed in competition—a triple loop—at the 1952 Oslo Games.
