KOHA is a wet-food brand with several recipe lines, but its foods are not nutritionally interchangeable. Whether a particular KOHA recipe suits your cat depends on its exact ingredients, nutrition-adequacy statement, life stage, calories, and your cat’s individual needs. KOHA’s Chicken Pâté, for example, is labeled for adult maintenance—not kitten growth—and the manufacturer’s claims are not proof that a recipe treats a health problem.
What does KOHA make for cats?
KOHA’s official cat-food range includes Limited Ingredient Diet, Pure Shreds, Limited Ingredient Bland Diet, and Poké Bowls. The formats and ingredient lists differ, so assess the specific recipe rather than assuming the whole brand has one nutritional profile. KOHA’s Chicken Pâté product page lists chicken, water, ground flaxseed, chicken liver, New Zealand green mussel, pumpkin, agar agar, minerals, vitamins, and other ingredients. The page describes this recipe as single-meat.

Is KOHA cat food complete and balanced?
KOHA states that its Chicken Pâté is formulated to meet the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance. That is a manufacturer’s adequacy statement for this specific recipe; it is not an AAFCO approval or endorsement. AAFCO explains: “In short, AAFCO does not approve, certify or otherwise endorse pet foods. There is no AAFCO-approved pet food.” Its consumer guidance on reading pet-food labels explains that the adequacy statement identifies the species and life stage or condition for which a food is intended.

The Chicken Pâté statement supports adult maintenance, not kitten growth. If you are choosing food for a kitten, a pregnant or nursing cat, or a cat with a diagnosed condition, look for a package statement that matches that need and ask your veterinarian when appropriate. Do not infer suitability for one life stage from another KOHA recipe’s label.

The manufacturer’s current page lists the following guaranteed analysis and calorie figures for Chicken Pâté. These apply to this recipe, not every KOHA food.

Guaranteed-analysis percentages are stated as fed, including the food’s moisture. To compare foods with substantially different moisture levels, use dry-matter values rather than comparing as-fed percentages directly. KOHA explains this distinction in its nutrition chart. If you calculate dry matter yourself, treat it as a moisture-adjusted comparison—not a replacement for the package’s guaranteed analysis.
Use the calorie figure for the can size you actually feed when estimating daily intake, and follow the current package’s feeding guidance. A can’s calories alone do not determine the right portion for an individual cat.

Could KOHA suit a cat with food sensitivities or a sensitive stomach?
KOHA markets some recipes with language such as “for extreme food sensitivities” and describes pumpkin as supporting digestion and green mussel as supporting joint health. Those are manufacturer claims, not evidence that a food diagnoses or treats allergies, digestive disease, or joint conditions. A limited ingredient list may make it easier to identify what a recipe contains, but it cannot establish that the food will resolve a cat’s symptoms.
If you suspect a food allergy or ongoing digestive problem, consult a veterinarian rather than switching foods repeatedly or relying on a product description. For any trial, verify the complete ingredient panel and adequacy statement on the exact recipe; recipes under the same brand can use different proteins and other ingredients.

Do cats like KOHA?
Individual acceptance varies. Cats.com says its reviewers’ test cats liked the foods, but its page also includes customer reports of cats refusing some Poké Bowl flavors and of inconsistent pâté texture. KOHA sells different textures and formats, including pâté, shreds, gravy-style foods, and bland-diet options. If texture is a concern, confirm the format before buying and introduce any new food in a way that fits your veterinarian’s advice and your cat’s needs.

What should you check before choosing a KOHA recipe?
- Life stage and adequacy: Read the exact package statement for the intended species and life stage; do not assume an adult-maintenance food is suitable for growth.
- Ingredients: Check the named animal proteins and every other ingredient against your cat’s known sensitivities or dietary plan.
- Calories and serving size: Compare calories for the can or pouch size you will feed, then use the recipe’s current feeding guidance as a starting point.
- Nutrient comparison: Compare guaranteed analysis on the same basis, using dry-matter figures when moisture levels differ.
- Format and acceptance: Choose a texture your cat is willing to eat; other cats’ preferences are not a guarantee.
- Current details: Confirm the live label, availability, and retailer price, since formulas and listings can change.
Cat Food Advisor also evaluates several KOHA Limited Ingredient Diet recipes as adult-maintenance foods and publishes its own analysis and score. What is known about the reported Rabbit au Jus concern?
An FDA Emergency Operations Network report dated October 22, 2024, includes a consumer allegation about bone fragments in roughly ten inspected cans of KOHA Rabbit au Jus from lot 83CRU2-0038. The report describes alleged fragments up to 1.7 cm and says one cat vomited. The FDA cautions that inclusion in the report alone does not establish that a product was defective or caused an adverse event. This is an allegation in a consumer-submitted record, not a confirmed FDA finding of contamination or proof of causation. The report is available in the FDA’s July–December 2024 Emergency Operations Network report.
Two independent review sources state that KOHA had no product recalls as of their respective reviews, but those statements do not establish the brand’s present-day recall status. Consult current primary records if you need to verify a specific product or lot.
