Naperville’s latest local service updates cover three separate topics: changing restrictions on Book Road, the start of the city’s bulk leaf collection program, and an October adoption-fee waiver for eligible dogs at Will County Animal Protection Services and two partner locations.
Book Road construction: what drivers should know
As of NCTV17’s October 6, 2026 report, a portion of Book Road was expected to reopen soon as construction moved to another segment. The schedule is a forecast, not confirmation that the work or restrictions have since changed. Check the latest city or WaterLink updates before traveling.
75th Street to 87th Street
A follow-up report said the section between 75th and 87th streets was expected to open within the week after September 29. That was an anticipated opening, not a confirmed reopening notice. NCTV17’s October 6 update and its construction follow-up covered the changing work schedule.
South of 95th Street
Work south of 95th Street was expected to begin late in the week after October 3. The stretch from 95th Street to Conan Doyle Road was reported open to southbound traffic only; drivers should not assume it is open in both directions.

Why the work is happening
The WaterLink project is installing a 54-inch water main to bring Lake Michigan water to Montgomery, Oswego and Yorkville. NCTV17 reported that installation at 95th Street and 248th Avenue was complete, with roadway restoration expected to start in late November or early December. That restoration timing was a forecast, not a confirmed completion date.
Naperville bulk leaf collection starts October 19
Naperville’s Bulk Curbside Leaf Collection Program starts October 19, 2026, and offers residents three free pickup cycles, according to the local roundup. Individual cycle dates were not listed in the accessible report, so consult the city’s program information for the schedule rather than relying on an assumed calendar.
