Opie, a pit bull featured by DogTime on January 12, 2026, sleeps through an unusually trusting cuddle: his cat companion Mochi presses against him and uses the dog’s face as a pillow. Opie briefly startles, opens one eye, then relaxes again while Mochi stays put. The clip shows a peaceful relationship in this household, but it cannot establish that every pit bull or every dog is automatically safe with cats.
What happens in the Opie and Mochi video?
DogTime’s report identifies the dog as Opie, the cat as Mochi, and the posting account as @justopiethings. Mochi is tucked tightly against Opie, resting on his face as though it were a cushion. Opie appears deeply asleep, reacts briefly to a movement, and then settles back down without displacing the cat.

Why does Opie act so comfortable around cats?
The same household report says Opie was raised by cats. DogTime also describes several cat-like habits that may help explain why close contact appears routine for him.

These are observations about one dog and his home life. They should not be treated as breed-wide traits or as proof that a dog with a similar history will respond the same way.
Does the clip prove that a pit bull will not hurt a cat?
No. It documents relaxed behavior between Opie and Mochi during one filmed moment, not a guarantee of safety in other homes or situations. Dogs and cats can live successfully together, but introductions, supervision, prey-drive differences, stress signals and each animal’s individual history all matter.

- Introduce animals gradually, using barriers and separate safe areas at first.

That report attributes the post to Diana’s @cozynthewild account and says the reel passed 17,000 likes in a few hours. Because the account, date and animals shown differ from the January report, readers should not assume the clips are the same upload without confirmation.

How does this compare with other dog-and-cat sleeping clips?
PetsRadar’s March 14, 2022 report covered a different pair: Ernest, a Russian Maine Coon, and Hemingway, a blue-nose pit bull. They were adopted at the same time, and the 23-second TikTok had more than 800,000 views three days after upload. Owner Samantha said, “I don’t think I could’ve got a better moment than this.” Those animals are not Opie and Mochi.
Another PetsRadar report, published June 26, 2022, featured Zara and a calico cat named Amora. Amora occupied Zara’s giant dog bed while Zara tried the cat’s smaller bed. That video was reported to have more than three million views and almost 500,000 likes. It offers a humorous example of pets sharing sleeping spaces, not evidence about Opie’s behavior.

The January report identifies the posting account but does not provide the owner’s name. The phrase about them “keeping each other safe” is attributed to the owner without a supplied name.
Can a cat safely sleep on a dog’s face?
It can be harmless for a relaxed, compatible pair, but owners should still ensure the cat can leave freely and that the dog is not showing stress, guarding or sudden irritability. A single viral video cannot determine what is safe for another household.
