SiiPet LitterLens Review: What Its AI Cat Health Monitoring Can—and Can’t—Do

SiiPet LitterLens adds camera-based litter-box logs and visual alerts to an existing box. Here’s what it monitors, what it costs, and where its health claims remain unproven.

Verdict: SiiPet LitterLens is a camera that attaches near an existing litter box to log visits, capture images and video, and flag changes in toileting patterns. It may help owners spot trends or collect useful context for a vet visit, but it is not a diagnostic device: the available product information does not establish that it can reliably detect UTIs or other diseases. Consider it if visual monitoring is useful and your box has a clear mounting position; skip it if you need weight or urine measurements, offline operation, or clinically validated alerts.

What is SiiPet LitterLens?

LitterLens is a battery-powered camera and app system, not a self-cleaning or weighing litter box. SiiPet says it records litter-box visits, duration, photos or video, and changes in behavior or stool appearance. It can also attempt to recognize individual cats and maintain separate logs. The company describes the camera as suitable for many standard boxes and some automatic models, provided it can see the litter area without blocking the cat or moving parts. SiiPet’s product page lists its features and specifications.

That makes its central value observation: a record of what happened at the box. It does not directly measure urine volume, body weight, urine chemistry, blood, hydration, temperature, or other clinical markers. A camera view of a visit is not the same as a measurement of urine output or a diagnosis.

What does it monitor?

Visits and behavior

SiiPet says LitterLens tracks visit frequency and duration and can flag deviations from a cat’s usual pattern, including changes in posture. A log may make a change easier to notice than memory alone, especially in a multi-cat home, but the product information does not show how accurately it detects each behavior or how often it misses or mislabels events.

SiiPet LitterLens Cat Litter Box Camera with App, AI Health Monitoring & Alerts, Track Urination & Stool, Multi-Cat Recognition, Works with Every Litter Box, Pet Health Monitor (Gray)
  • [Health Alerts]: SiiPet LitterLens tracks and analyzes your cat’s litter box activity. When abnormalities are detected, the app sends instant alerts to help you spot early signs of urinary, digestive, or stress-related issues and take timely action.
  • [Long-Term Insights]: Tracks your cat’s litter box habits—such as daily frequency and duration—and generates easy-to-read reports. Helps you monitor health trends and detect irregularities early, ideal for at-risk or post-treatment cats.
  • [Multi-Cat Recognition]: LitterLens automatically identifies each cat and logs every litter box visit to the correct pet profile. Monitor bathroom behavior and health insights for every cat in your home—without guessing.
  • [Works with Every Litter Box]: Works with most standard and automatic litter boxes and installs easily. For multi-cat homes or multiple boxes, we recommend one camera per box for more accurate tracking and complete data capture.
  • [24/7 Monitoring with Night Light]: Features a built-in night light that automatically turns on when your cat is detected in low-light conditions, ensuring reliable tracking even in the dark. The night light can be turned on or off via the SiiPet app.

Stool images and categories

The company lists stool snapshots and analysis of categories such as hard pellets, soft or pudding-like stool, and watery stool. Its help center also names color categories including black or tarry, bright red, gray, green, and orange-yellow. These are stated capabilities, not proof that the AI will classify every sample correctly. Litter covering the stool, poor lighting, an obstructed angle, and the position of the stool can all limit what a camera image reveals. SiiPet’s help center describes the setup and monitoring features.

What an alert means medically

Frequent visits, prolonged time in the box, or a visible change can be a reason to contact a veterinarian; they do not identify the cause. The reviewed product information does not provide an independent clinical accuracy study, diagnostic comparison, sensitivity or specificity figures, or false-alert rates. It does not establish that LitterLens detects a UTI. A normal-looking snapshot or the absence of an alert cannot rule out illness.

If your cat is straining, repeatedly attempting to urinate, or producing little or no urine, contact a veterinarian urgently rather than waiting for an app alert. Suspected urinary blockage is an emergency.

Will it fit your litter box, and how hard is setup?

SiiPet describes compatibility with open-top, high-sided, and enclosed boxes, but fit depends on placement and visibility. For an automatic box, the company says there must be a flat mounting surface, a complete and clear view of the litter area, and no interference with the entrance, cat movement, rake, rotating globe, or other moving parts. If those conditions cannot be met, SiiPet says the box is not compatible; “fits all litter boxes” should not be read literally.

  1. Download the SiiPet app and pair the camera.
  2. Attach the supplied mount to a suitable flat surface on the box or nearby wall.
  3. Open Live View or Real-time in the app.
  4. Adjust the angle until the litter surface is fully visible and the camera does not obstruct the cat or any mechanism.
  5. Allow the system to learn the cat’s usual behavior, and correct recognition errors in the app when needed.

Placement is consequential: a partial view can hide stool or compromise posture and event tracking. Check whether the surface is appropriate for the mount, whether a hood or mat blocks the view, and whether the camera is vulnerable to litter, scratching, or cleaning spray. No hands-on test results establish how well the supplied adhesive works across different box materials.

How useful is it in a multi-cat home?

SiiPet says the app can recognize individual cats and keep separate health logs. Multiple cameras can be paired with one account, with the product page stating a maximum of six devices. A camera only sees the box where it is installed, so monitoring multiple boxes generally requires coverage at each box whose use you want to track.

Recognition should be treated as fallible rather than guaranteed. Similar-looking cats, one cat entering as another leaves, or a cat lingering around the box may make attribution ambiguous. Community reports describe both useful recognition and occasional mistaken identities, but they are anecdotal—not measured accuracy results. Expect to review and correct records, particularly while the system is learning.

What does it cost, and what does Care+ add?

The surfaced U.S. product-page price was $69.99 on sale against a listed $99 regular price for one camera; other collection-page variants showed lower “from” prices. These are promotional, time-sensitive prices, not a guaranteed current checkout amount. SiiPet lists Care+ at $5.99 per month for one device, $9.99 for two, and $12.99 for three or more, with up to six devices per account. Check the live listing before buying. Using the surfaced sale prices and monthly Care+ rates for 12 months, illustrative first-year totals are $141.87 for one camera and one-device Care+, $254.87 for two cameras and the two-device plan, and $355.87 for three cameras and the three-plus-device plan. These calculations exclude tax and assume the displayed prices do not change. Care+ is optional for the listed core logging and live-view features, but it is needed for the listed abnormal analysis, instant abnormal alerts, and longer storage.

“Up to 30 days” is a company-advertised maximum, not a runtime guarantee. SiiPet says battery life depends on usage and temperature; frequent recordings, live viewing, weak Wi-Fi, or cold conditions may shorten it. The camera is listed as usable while charging.

The 2.4GHz requirement matters if your home Wi-Fi is configured for 5GHz only or the signal is weak at the litter box. Live view and cloud features depend on connectivity, so outages can interrupt access to them.

Privacy, storage, and sharing

LitterLens is a camera connected to an app, with live video, a local rolling buffer, and cloud storage under Care+ described by SiiPet. The company’s privacy positioning emphasizes the litter-box-focused view, but a narrow field of view alone does not answer how data is processed or retained. Before relying on it, review the current privacy policy and app settings for cloud processing, model-improvement use, deletion after account closure or cancellation, and whether cloud storage can be disabled while keeping alerts.

SiiPet says users can invite up to five family members to view videos and photos. That may help a household share monitoring, but consider who has account access and what each invited person can see. The available product information does not establish whether the app supports two-factor authentication or precisely what historical data remains after cancellation.

How it compares with other ways to monitor a cat

Option Best suited to Main difference from LitterLens
SiiPet LitterLens Owners who want litter-box video, visual stool records, and behavior logs Camera-based; does not directly measure weight or urine volume
Purina Petivity Smart LitterBox Monitor Owners prioritizing weight and urination/defecation event trends Purina describes a sensor-oriented system tracking weight and events, rather than primarily video and visual stool analysis; current price and availability are not established here. Purina’s product announcement
Automated litter box with monitoring Owners willing to replace their existing box for integrated sensors or waste-cycle data May provide measurements such as weight or cycle data, but requires adopting a different box and may not suit every cat
Conventional indoor camera Owners who mainly want general-purpose live video Often offers flexible placement, but generally lacks LitterLens’s specialized visit logging and stool workflow
Manual log Owners who want to track observations without a camera or subscription No hardware or cloud account, but depends on consistent observation and record-keeping

Who should consider LitterLens?

  • Worth considering: an owner of a senior or medically vulnerable cat who wants a visual record of litter-box habits to discuss with a vet.
  • Potentially useful: a multi-cat household that needs help attributing box visits and can review uncertain identifications.
  • Less suitable: an owner who needs weight tracking, direct urine-output measurement, or a medical diagnosis.
  • Likely a poor fit: a household without reliable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or a safe, unobstructed mounting position.
  • Look elsewhere: anyone requiring a fully local/offline system or unwilling to use cloud-connected features and pay for extended history or advanced analysis.

Buy only if the camera record itself has value to you, even when an alert is inconclusive. SiiPet also lists optional magnetic and gooseneck mounts, each surfaced at $19.99; an accessory may solve a placement problem but cannot make an obstructed or unsafe position suitable. SiiPet’s accessory collection lists its mounting options.
