A tiny calico stray picked a Yorkie out of the rain, followed him down the street and ended up indoors. That is the story in an iHeartDogs article by Julie Hunt, published October 5, 2026. In it, the dog keeps stopping so the kitten can keep up. The details below are the article’s account. They are not independently verified.
What happened, according to the article
The walk was a rainy one. The Yorkie turned around and found “a teeny-tiny kitten on his trail,” in the article’s words. She was small, young, stray and calico.
- The kitten followed the dog rather than a person.
- The Yorkie paused to let her catch up.
- He waited while she climbed a curb and then the porch steps.
- The household let her inside.

Why the Yorkie’s patience stands out
For a kitten that size, a curb is a real obstacle. The story is moving because the dog doesn’t just tolerate being followed. In the article’s telling, he adjusts his pace and waits at each hurdle. Whatever the dog was thinking, that behavior is what turned a wet, lost-looking kitten into a kitten who made it to a doorstep.

What the article doesn’t say
- The names of the dog or kitten.
- Where it happened.
- The kitten’s exact age or health.
- Who formally adopted her, or what happened afterward.
Being let inside is not the same as a documented rescue or adoption, so the ending is best read as a warm moment, not a confirmed permanent home.
If you find a stray kitten yourself
The article doesn’t give advice, so this is general common sense. Bring a very small kitten somewhere dry and warm, and handle her gently. Have a vet or local shelter check her health and scan for a microchip. Keep her apart from other pets until she has been checked.
