How to read the scores: Scores are from RTINGS’ 2026 guide. RTINGS says a pet-hair score of 7.5 or higher represents good or better single-pass clearing. Treat these as one publisher’s test results, not a guarantee of identical performance in every home.
1. Dyson V15 Detect: best overall for pet hair
The Dyson V15 Detect is RTINGS’ strongest all-around pick for homes with carpet, hard floors, sofas, stairs, and shedding pets. RTINGS reports that its bristled floorhead removed nearly all tested pet hair from carpet in a single pass. Its Hair Screw Turbo Tool is useful on upholstered furniture.

RTINGS also reports good bare-floor pickup and near-perfect particle filtration. Its particle-filtration score is 9.9, while furniture performance scores 8.0.
What to watch for
- Runtime depends heavily on mode and tool. RTINGS measured up to 75 minutes in its tested setup, but only about eight minutes in its highest-power condition.
- The dustbin is relatively small. Homes with several pets may need more frequent emptying.
- Dust can escape during emptying. Emptying outdoors is a reviewer precaution, not a manufacturer instruction.
- The body is mainly plastic. It feels less substantial than the Miele Duoflex HX1.
Choose it if: you want a well-rounded combination of hair pickup, floor versatility, furniture cleaning, and filtration and can accept a small bin and mode-dependent runtime.
2. Miele Duoflex HX1: best sturdier premium alternative
The Miele Duoflex HX1 matched the Dyson’s 9.5 RTINGS pet-hair score. RTINGS highlights its metal wand, premium-feeling body, and 9.5 particle-filtration score. In RTINGS’ testing, it ran for roughly 15 minutes in High and more than an hour in Low.
Where it gives up ground
- Broad debris pickup is weaker than the Dyson’s.
- Crevice performance is weaker. The Dyson is a better choice for narrow gaps and edges.
- The dirt compartment is small.
- Check the exact trim and bundle. RTINGS notes the Total Care variant includes an Electro Compact brush and upholstery nozzle; accessory sets may differ.
Choose it if: you value a sturdier feel, strong filtration, and better high-power endurance more than maximum all-purpose debris pickup.

3. Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H: best mid-range value
The Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus, specifically the IZ382H tested by RTINGS, combines a 9.5 pet-hair score with a 9.8 particle-filtration score. RTINGS found strong pickup on difficult low-pile carpet.
Its MultiFLEX wand bends under furniture, and the illuminated floorhead helps reveal debris in dim areas. The bin exceeds 0.6 liter. RTINGS reports a maximum runtime of 56 minutes and a minimum of 16.8 minutes in its test data; actual runtime depends on mode and use.
Its limitations
- Check the exact model number and bundle. Do not assume a similarly named variant has the same configuration.
- The tested bundle has a straight-suction upholstery tool, not a turbo brush. Some fine hair can catch at the tool’s edges.
- Long strands can still wrap around the floorhead. Its design is intended to reduce tangles, not eliminate them.
- Build feel is less premium. It prioritizes value and reach.
Choose it if: you want strong carpet hair pickup, a large bin, under-furniture reach, and good filtration without paying flagship pricing.

4. Shark Cordless Pet IX141: best budget hair pickup, but not for allergy-sensitive homes
The Shark Cordless Pet IX141 is good at collecting visible pet hair for its price. RTINGS gives it a 9.5 pet-hair score and an 8.0 furniture score, and says its upholstery tool performs well.
Its particle-filtration score is just 1.9. RTINGS warns that fine allergens such as pet dander can pass through the exhaust, so this is not a suitable pick for people with pet-dander allergies or sensitivities.
Other compromises
- Carpet debris pickup is weaker than on the leading options.
- The brushroll is not removable, making wrapped hair harder to clear.
- The built-in battery cannot be swapped.
- RTINGS measured less than 40 minutes of maximum runtime; powered-floorhead use can reduce usable time.
Choose it if: inexpensive visible-hair and furniture cleaning is your priority and fine-particle filtration is not a significant concern.
5. Wyze Cordless Vacuum S: best cheap option
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a low-cost option for shoppers who want a removable battery and better filtration than the IX141. Its RTINGS pet-hair score is 7.0, while its particle-filtration score is 9.1.
RTINGS measured a maximum runtime of 43 minutes in its tested configuration, but high suction lasted under 15 minutes. Its removable battery can be useful for longer sessions, provided any replacement is compatible with the exact model.

- Hair pickup is weaker than on the other four picks. Fine hairs can remain embedded in carpet.
- Bare-floor performance is disappointing.
- Furniture cleaning is limited. The tested configuration has no upholstery tool.
- Maximum runtime is not high-suction runtime. Mode and tool affect usable time.

For carpet covered in stubborn shedding
The Dyson, Miele, and Shark PowerPro each earned a 9.5 pet-hair score from RTINGS. Consider the Dyson for versatility, the Miele for build feel and high-power endurance, or the Shark for its larger bin and under-furniture reach.
For pet dander and allergy concerns
Compare the tested filtration scores: Dyson 9.9, Shark PowerPro 9.8, Miele 9.5, and Wyze 9.1. Avoid the Shark IX141 for this use; its score is 1.9 and RTINGS found that fine particles can pass through the exhaust. Filtration scores do not make a vacuum a medical device or eliminate all allergens.

The Dyson’s Hair Screw Turbo Tool is a strong option for upholstery. The Shark IX141 also performed well on furniture, but its filtration weakness rules it out for dander-sensitive homes. The tested PowerPro bundle has a straight-suction upholstery tool rather than a turbo brush.
For fewer interruptions to empty the bin
The Shark PowerPro has a dust compartment exceeding 0.6 liter. RTINGS describes the Miele’s compartment as small. Bin capacities and how they are measured can vary by brand, so check the exact model specifications.
For longer cleaning sessions
Do not compare cordless vacuums by maximum runtime alone. High suction and powered floorheads use more battery than low-power tool use. RTINGS measured about eight minutes for the Dyson in its highest-power condition and roughly 15 minutes for the Miele in High. The Wyze’s removable battery offers another option, but high suction lasted under 15 minutes in RTINGS’ test.
How to choose a cordless pet-hair vacuum
1. Start with your floor type
For embedded carpet hair, look for a bristled or powered roller and measured carpet performance. On hard floors, check debris pickup and whether the head is easy to steer. A strong carpet score does not automatically predict the best bare-floor performance.
2. Separate pet hair from pet dander
Visible hair and fine dander are different problems. For allergy-sensitive homes, compare tested particle filtration and emptying behavior rather than relying on a filter label alone. RTINGS’ IX141 filtration result is a clear caution.

3. Check the furniture tools
A powered mini brush or air-driven turbo brush is often more useful on upholstery than a narrow crevice tool. Check the exact model bundle because accessory sets differ by trim and retailer.
4. Treat runtime claims as best-case figures
Compare runtime in the mode and with the floorhead you expect to use. Manufacturer maximums, lab measurements, and mixed-use runtime are different quantities. High suction can sharply reduce runtime.
5. Match bin size to shedding volume
A small bin can mean more interruptions in a multi-pet home. Compare capacity for the exact models, while remembering that capacity measurements may not be standardized across brands.

6. Plan for hygienic emptying and maintenance
Bagless vacuums can release dust when bins are opened. Empty carefully and keep the floorhead free of wrapped hair. When a filter needs replacing, use a vacuum replacement filter specified for the exact model. Filter compatibility is model-specific; check manufacturer documentation.
Battery parts are also model-specific. If you need a second pack, look for a Wyze Cordless Vacuum S battery and verify compatibility with the exact model.
