Tombot’s Jennie is a robotic puppy that drew an emotional response from a CES reporter, but that personal reaction is not evidence of a clinical benefit. CES-era reporting described an anticipated price of about $1,500 and planned summer 2026 availability; as of October 7, 2026, Tombot says its first litter has sold out and invites prospective buyers to join a waitlist.
Jennie is designed to respond to touch and sound with puppy-like movement and vocalizations. It is a companion product, not a real dog or a proven medical treatment, and the current price and shipping date are not posted on Tombot’s site.
What is Tombot Jennie?
Jennie is Tombot’s robotic puppy, presented as a companion for people and communities facing health adversities. PCMag’s CES report described it as intended for seniors with dementia and reported that it could respond to petting, hear through a microphone array, move its head, eyebrows, and tail, and bark. Those are reported product features, not an independent assessment of how well the robot works in daily use.
According to the same CES report, the design included nine servo motors, capacitive-touch sensors, a microphone array, orientation sensors, and light and temperature sensors. PCMag also reported a company claim of all-day battery life with overnight charging; that claim was not an independently measured test result.

Why did Jennie feel emotionally persuasive at CES?
A CES reporter described Jennie as emotionally affecting. That account documents one person’s response to a product demonstration; it does not show that everyone will feel attached to Jennie or that the robot improves a health condition.
Jennie combines a puppy-like appearance and sounds with movements and responses to touch or sound. These cues may invite interaction, but the available sources do not establish that Jennie provides a therapeutic or medical benefit.
Can a robot dog provide emotional support?
A person may find comfort in stroking a soft object or interacting with a familiar animal-like design. But a personal sense of comfort is different from proof that a product treats dementia, anxiety, loneliness, or any other condition.

What should buyers know about privacy and connectivity?
PCMag reported a CES-era statement from Tombot CEO and founder Tom Stevens: “The smartphone app connects via Bluetooth or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi.” The report also quoted Stevens describing a plan for the first version to require users to be in the same room to connect.
These are attributed statements from the CES report, not an independently verified description of current implementation or privacy policy. Before joining a waitlist or buying, check Tombot’s current information for connectivity requirements, what data the product collects, and how that data is handled.

- Confirm availability and price. Tombot says its first litter is sold out and that pricing and availability will be provided closer to shipping.
- Consider the intended user’s response. A robotic puppy may be welcome to one person and confusing or unwelcome to another. Do not assume that a cute design will provide comfort to everyone.
- Ask about everyday use. Clarify charging, cleaning, support, and repair arrangements when Tombot provides further product details.
- Review privacy information. Check the current connectivity and data-handling terms rather than relying on a CES-era description.
- Keep expectations realistic. The reviewed sources do not establish clinical effectiveness for Jennie.
