Walnut’s playful, curious personality helped her warm up to people—and the ASPCA says she has now found a loving home. She is not currently being presented as available for adoption, but her story offers a glimpse of the patient, playful approach that helped her feel at ease.
Walnut’s playful way of making friends
In its May 16, 2025 profile, the ASPCA described Walnut as playful, curious, and talkative. She could be shy around new faces, but play helped her grow more comfortable with people. When she wanted attention, she would come over and invite someone to play with a gentle meow.
Walnut enjoyed pets delivered with a wand toy or a back scratcher. She was also beginning to accept pets from people she knew well. Those small steps showed how she preferred to interact: give her room to approach, and let play build trust.
What Walnut needed from an adopter
The ASPCA recommended a patient adopter who would give Walnut time to settle into a new home, respect the interactions she preferred, and enjoy playing with her. Her story is a reminder that a shy first impression does not tell the whole story; some cats become more confident when people let them set the pace.
