Call the Fun Fox Facts Fax Line, put a fax machine into receive mode, and—if you can access the service—you get illustrated fox facts printed on paper. It is a deliberately absurd maker project built around foxes, facts, faxes, and the sheer novelty of receiving animal trivia from an obsolete office machine.
The name is almost the entire explanation
The Fun Fox Facts Fax Line is a novelty fax-delivery system. Rather than displaying information on a website or sending it by text, the project transmits short fox facts to a fax machine, along with illustrations.
It is better understood as a playful art and maker experiment than as a conventional educational hotline. The title works because it describes both the mechanism and the joke: a “fax line” that exists to deliver facts about foxes.
How the fax line works
The reported process is straightforward:
- Dial the service from a compatible fax-connected device.
- Wait for the system to prompt you to receive.
- Switch the fax machine into receive mode.
- Let the connection transmit the material.
- Collect one or more printed fox-fact pages.
The project’s coverage describes it as working with any fax machine, but that is the maker’s broad description rather than an independently tested compatibility guarantee. In practice, a fax machine also needs a suitable telephone connection or fax-capable service. VoIP lines can be unreliable for faxing, and a mobile-phone-only household generally cannot connect a traditional fax machine without additional equipment.

What arrives on the page?
Recipients receive low-quality faxed sheets containing a fox fact—or, as the original description puts it, “a fox fact or three”—with illustrations. The exact number of facts or pages is not fixed in the available account.
The rough monochrome output is part of the appeal. A web page could present cleaner images instantly, but a fax produces a physical artifact: a slightly degraded sheet of paper that feels more like a souvenir than a normal information delivery.
Who made it?
The project was created by a pseudonymous maker using the name lpbkdotnet. The illustrations are credited to Nelly Perkins; the available source does not identify Perkins as the builder of the fax infrastructure.

According to Hackster.io’s account, the idea was originally conceived as an installation for Electromagnetic Field 2024, a technology and maker festival. “Originally planned” should not be read as confirmation that the project was ultimately installed there.

That motivation fits the project better than any grand claim about reinventing telecommunications: it is a good joke that was turned into functioning hardware.
Why use fax for fox facts?
Fax is an especially effective medium for this kind of project because its limitations become part of the experience.

- It makes digital information physical. The fact arrives as paper rather than as another screen notification.
- It adds anticipation. The recipient has to connect, wait for the machine to respond, and listen as the page prints.
- It gives illustrations a distinctive look. Low resolution and monochrome transmission create an unmistakably old-fashioned aesthetic.
- It turns obsolete infrastructure into a creative tool. A technology once used for mundane office paperwork becomes the delivery system for unnecessary but charming animal trivia.
The fox facts themselves are simple. The experience—and the collision between modern internet culture and aging office technology—is the main attraction.
Can you call it now?
There is no verified public telephone number to provide. When the project was covered, the fax line was accessible through the maker’s internal network. The maker discussed possibly connecting it to the public switched telephone network, but the available evidence does not confirm that this happened or that the service remains reachable.

That means readers should not assume that the line is public, active, free, or available as of 2026. A private-network prototype is not the same thing as a public call-in service, and attempting to access a private system without permission would be inappropriate.

Even if a public version were launched, successful use would depend on the line being active, a fax-capable connection, and a receiving machine that answers or enters receive mode at the right time. Noise on the telephone connection, incompatible routing, or a dropped call could result in a partial page or no page at all.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A possible sequel: “fax facts fax”
The maker mentioned having illustrations ready for a more meta concept called a “fax facts fax.” That appears to be a proposed follow-up idea, not a confirmed public service or completed release.
Why this tiny project is memorable
The Fun Fox Facts Fax Line demonstrates what maker culture does particularly well: taking a narrow, impractical idea and making it real enough to be delightful. A web page would be quicker, cheaper, and easier. A fax machine is none of those things—but that friction is exactly why the result is memorable.

It also shows how obsolete technology can become expressive when removed from its original purpose. Fax machines were designed to move important documents. Here, one is asked to deliver illustrated fox trivia. The information is modest; the delivery mechanism turns it into an event.
For now, the safest description is the simplest one: this is a reported fox-fact fax prototype and maker project, not a verified public animal-information hotline.
