What the review says about Tiki Cat’s food
Cats.com characterizes Tiki Cat as a brand centered on wet food, with a smaller dry-food range and more than 40 flavors and textures across its lines. It highlights After Dark, a wet-food line that combines muscle meat and organs. The company’s own brand story also emphasizes meat-first, moisture-rich recipes; that is brand positioning, not independent clinical evidence.

The review broadly describes the wet recipes as relatively high in protein and low in carbohydrates, and the dry foods as more carbohydrate-rich. Those are broad observations, not a guarantee about every formula. Compare the precise recipe label and nutrient analysis rather than assuming every product shares the same profile.
Example analyzed: dry chicken and egg
To illustrate one dry recipe, the Cats.com review examined a chicken-and-egg formula. Its early listed ingredients included deboned chicken, chicken meal, dehydrated chicken, dried egg product, and tapioca; flaxseed, chickpeas, and peas appeared later in the ingredient list.

The crude protein, fat, fiber, moisture, and ash figures are the review’s reported guaranteed analysis; the dry-matter figures are its calculated analysis. They apply to this analyzed example and label, not to Tiki Cat as a whole. Dry-matter analysis adjusts for water content to make nutrient levels in foods with different moisture levels easier to compare. Price and feeding cost
Cats.com described Tiki Cat as more expensive than many foods and estimated that feeding one of its wet recipes could cost close to $5 per day in the review updated December 15, 2025. This is a dated estimate, not a current quote. The cost for your cat depends on the specific recipe and package, the amount fed, your cat’s size, and the retailer’s price.

For a useful comparison, calculate the daily cost from the package price and the amount your cat actually eats. The calorie content and feeding directions on the exact product matter: a low price per can alone does not show what it costs to feed a cat for a day.
Is Tiki Cat safe, and has it been recalled?
The Cats.com review, last updated December 15, 2025, states that “Tiki Cat has never been recalled.” That is the review’s statement as of its update date; it is not a verified determination of recall status as of October 2026. The available information does not establish a complete, current official recall history. For the latest status, check current notices from regulators and the company rather than treating the review’s statement as current confirmation.

A lack of reported recalls does not guarantee that a food is safe for every cat or appropriate for a particular medical condition. If your cat needs a therapeutic diet, ask your veterinarian before choosing a replacement.

- Calories and moisture: Compare the exact product’s calorie information and feeding directions with your cat’s needs. The company FAQ says complementary feeding calls for adjusting the amount offered to support a healthy weight.
- Ingredients and analysis: Read the full ingredient list and nutrient analysis for the flavor and format you intend to buy; values from one dry food cannot stand in for a wet recipe.
- Texture and acceptance: A recipe only works in practice if your cat will eat it. The Cats.com reviewer reports offering her purchased foods to her cats, but that experience cannot predict how another cat will respond.
- Cost at the amount fed: Use the package size, current local price, and feeding amount for your cat to estimate a realistic daily cost.

Company history and sourcing claims
Cats.com reports that Petropics was founded by Christine and Robert Hackett in 2005, that the brand joined Whitebridge Pet Brands in 2015, and that General Mills acquired Tiki Pet in 2024. The review also reports that Tiki Cat foods are made in Thailand, that ingredients are sourced nearby when possible, and that the company makes sustainability-related seafood claims.
