There is no single best cat hammock for every cat and room. The 2026 Cats.com guide to cat hammocks, last updated January 22, 2026, names the Zoratoo Elevated Cat Hammock Bed as its overall pick, but its own buying advice makes the right choice depend on how the bed mounts, how much floor or window space you have, whether your cat can get up and in easily, and whether your cat will stay on a surface that sways or moves. Start with the mounting style, then check fit and access, then stability, then cleaning.
How the guide’s testing was done, and what it does not establish
The guide is written by Katelynn Sobus and published by Cats.com. Its stated method is that she bought the eleven products and tested them herself with her seven senior cats. In her words: “Each product in this round-up was purchased and tested by me and my seven cats.” That is one owner’s household testing with one group of senior cats. It is useful for seeing how real cats responded to real products, but it is not an independent lab, a safety certification, or a multi-household study.
The guide also reports three process figures: 150 hours of research, 54 brands vetted, and 11 features reviewed. These are the publisher’s own numbers, and they have not been independently audited.
A separate Cats.com review of the Tuft & Paw Cloud Nine, written by Amy Brown-Towry, describes several weeks of hands-on use, with attention to stability, installation, comfort, and whether the cats actually used it. Those observations belong to that reviewer and to that one product. They are not guarantees for any other bed.

Choose the mounting style first
The products in this category are not one product type. They fall into five broad groups, and each has different demands on your space and your cat.

Renters should be especially careful with window and wall-mounted styles, because they depend on the surface and sometimes on the attachment point, and they may not be appropriate for the building you live in.

Check fit and access before the weight rating
A stated maximum weight is the least useful number on the product page for judging whether a cat will actually use a bed. The guide points to three problems with relying on it:

The guide describes some beds as small despite high advertised capacities. A bed rated for a heavy cat can still be too small for that cat to turn around in or lie flat.
- Access height. A bed that looks ideal on a shelf may be too high for an older or less agile cat to climb to. The guide’s testers used senior cats, so the access question is especially relevant if your cat is older.
- Sway and stability. A suspended design may swing or feel unstable to some cats. Some cats will avoid a moving surface entirely, so watch how your cat moves before you commit to a hanging design.
Before buying, measure the space your cat currently sleeps in, measure the bed’s usable interior, and check how many cats need to share it. For a multi-cat home, the bunk or cat tree is only useful if the cats in the home are willing to use the same structure.
Window and suction-cup models: installation and stability
Suction-cup models are the category most likely to fail because of installation rather than design. Tuft & Paw’s official page says the Cloud Nine must be installed on glass, that it is intended for cats under 30 lb, and that it can “support up to 30lbs of lovable cat.” That is the manufacturer’s stated limit for that model. It is not an independently verified result, and it does not apply to any other product.

The steps below follow the model-specific directions in the sources. Use the manual that comes with your exact product, because the steps differ by brand.
- Confirm the surface. For the Cloud Nine, the manufacturer says glass only. Do not mount it on a screen, a painted pane, or a plastic window frame.
- Clean and dry the glass. Nymock’s official FAQ, which applies to its own model, says to clear dust and debris and dry the surfaces before mounting.
- Wash the suction cups before installation. A reviewer of the Cloud Nine found that washing the cups before installation helped them adhere.
- Press each cup flat and remove air bubbles. Nymock’s FAQ directs buyers to press out air bubbles under the cups.
- Use warm water for cold conditions. Nymock’s FAQ recommends warm water for cups when the room or window is cold.
- Expect trial and error with placement. The Cloud Nine reviewer reported that getting the window fit right took several attempts.
- Stop using the bed if it shifts. If the bed moves or a cup loosens when your cat jumps on or off, take the bed down and reinstall it following the maker’s instructions before your cat uses it again.
Do not describe a suction-cup bed as safe because of a seller’s load statement alone. None of the evidence reviewed here establishes that any of these beds cannot fall, and no independent safety certification was identified for them. Supervise your cat’s first few uses, and check the bed before it is used by a larger cat.

If warmth matters for your cat, look for the material described in the product listing and treat any claim about heat as the seller’s description.
