The clip was reported in December 2018, years before a 2025 retelling gave the encounter a new round of attention.
What happens in the video?
The driver is standing at a front door after leaving a Zappos package when a squirrel approaches and climbs onto him. KSL’s description of the footage says the animal moves across his shoulder and head, then jumps back to a ledge. The brief encounter appears startling for the driver, but the available reporting does not establish why the squirrel approached him.

KSL described the footage as coming from a Ring doorbell camera and attributed the video to ViralHog on YouTube. The homeowner and original camera owner are not identified in the available reports, and no specific camera model is named.

A December 8, 2018 Sunny Skyz report identified the driver as Oscar Luciano and reproduced his account of the moment: “I was just there bobbing my head jamming to music, and all of a sudden I felt a tug. It startled me.” The name and quotation are reported by Sunny Skyz; they are not independently verified here against an interview transcript or recording.

Luciano also joked, “I felt like Snow White with all her animal friends.” The line captures the oddity of a squirrel suddenly clambering over a delivery driver, without showing that the animal was tame or intentionally looking for human company.

The widely recirculated headline is newer than the video’s original news coverage. KSL reported the clip on December 11, 2018. Sunny Skyz had published its account, including the driver’s reported name and comments, on December 8, 2018. IHeartDogs later retold the story on April 27 and October 7, 2025. Those later articles do not establish when the footage was first uploaded.

The video shows an unusual doorstep moment; it does not explain the squirrel’s behavior. There is no basis in the cited accounts to describe the animal as trained, tame, or deliberately befriending the driver.
