The San Diego Tourism Authority groups pet-friendly accommodations by region, while a September 2026 Catster roundup names several additional options. These properties make a useful shortlist, not a guarantee that every room or pet will be accepted on your dates.

Downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter
- Andaz San Diego: The hotel’s published policy allows one dog under 50 pounds, or two dogs whose combined weight is no more than 75 pounds. It lists a $50 nightly fee and mentions a dog bed, bowls, and a treat. Check Andaz’s current pet policy.
- Alma San Diego: The official page allows up to two pets per room, each weighing no more than 50 pounds, and lists a $75 non-refundable fee per stay. Check Alma’s current details.
- Hotel Indigo San Diego-Gaslamp Quarter: Listed by the San Diego Tourism Authority as a Downtown pet-friendly option. Confirm permitted animal types, limits, and charges with the property.
- Hotel Republic San Diego: Also listed by the tourism authority for Downtown. Ask the hotel to confirm its current pet rules and any applicable fee.
- Westin Gaslamp Quarter: Appears on both the tourism authority’s Downtown list and Catster’s recommendations. Contact the hotel for its current policy.

Catster’s September 15, 2026 roundup also includes Empress Hotel La Jolla. These are secondary recommendations; confirm the details with each property rather than assuming the same rules apply across hotels.

What to compare before you book
“Pet-friendly” does not mean every animal, size, or room qualifies. Ask the hotel about the specific points that affect your stay:
- Animal type: Confirm whether the property accepts dogs, cats, or your particular animal.
- Number allowed: Ask how many pets may stay in one room.
- Weight limits: Check whether the cap applies to each pet or to their combined weight.
- Fees and deposits: Confirm whether charges are per night or per stay, whether they are refundable, and whether a separate damage deposit applies.
- Room and shared-space rules: Ask about designated rooms, leaving pets unattended, and requirements in public areas.
- Dates and availability: Confirm that a pet-eligible room is available for your travel dates and ask for the applicable charges before completing the reservation.
Some hotel pages contain conflicting policy details. The InterContinental San Diego page gives different weight-limit information in its policy section and FAQ; it also describes a $150 stay fee differently between those sections. San Diego Marriott Del Mar lists a $125 fee in one section and $100 in its structured policy and FAQ fields. Because of these discrepancies, confirm the applicable terms directly with either hotel rather than relying on a single figure.

Pack and plan for a smoother stay
The San Diego Tourism Authority recommends bringing familiar bedding or a carrier, along with food and water bowls. Its guidance also says not to leave a pet unattended unless the hotel allows it. If the hotel permits leaving your pet alone, the authority suggests using a crate or bathroom and leaving a Do Not Disturb sign. Follow the property’s own rules, and keep pets leashed or in carriers in public areas as required.
