Veterinary technicians can find work across general practice, preventive care, urgent care, specialty medicine and emergency hospitals. These ten employer networks are a useful U.S.-focused shortlist—not a ranking: the available duties, qualifications, benefits and training can differ from one hospital and job posting to another.

Ten veterinary technician employers to explore

The employer descriptions below reflect network-level information reported by Built In on October 9, 2026. Use them to identify settings and development paths that may suit you, then verify the details with the specific hospital and vacancy.

VetCor

Built In describes VetCor as a network of community-oriented practices emphasizing clinical autonomy and mentorship. It also cites “Lend a Hand,” a shift-sharing initiative. Ask a local practice how that initiative works and what mentorship looks like in the role you are considering.

National Veterinary Associates (NVA)

NVA’s hospitals offer a range of clinical settings and skills. Built In describes mentorship, continuing education, license and exam reimbursement, and accredited degree pathways. Benefits and opportunities may vary by facility and posting.

Thrive Pet Healthcare

Thrive spans primary, urgent, emergency and specialty care, with leadership training, mentorship and education support described at the network level. Check which services the hiring location provides and which resources apply to the position.

Mars Veterinary Health

Mars Veterinary Health brings together Banfield, VCA and BluePearl, spanning preventive and routine care through specialty and emergency medicine. Each has a technician career route: Banfield’s veterinary technician opportunities, VCA’s Veterinary Technicians & Assistants roles and BluePearl’s Technicians & Assistants careers. Their role names and advertised benefits do not establish that every hospital offers the same work or terms.

GoodVets

Built In describes GoodVets as an expanding hospital network with clinical work and employee benefits. Because the network-level summary does not establish the terms at a particular location, review the live posting for duties, requirements and benefits.

PetVet Care Centers

Its hospitals include general-practice and specialty settings. Depending on the hospital and role, work may include anesthesia monitoring, radiography, dentistry, surgery, triage and inpatient care. Confirm the actual caseload and scope of duties with the hiring team.

Alliance Animal Health

Built In describes companion-animal and urgent-care settings, as well as an in-house academy for technicians and assistants. Ask whether the academy is available to employees at the location and what training the specific position includes.

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG)

VEG focuses on emergency care. Built In describes a four-level Cultivate progression for veterinary nurses and technicians. Emergency work may suit candidates seeking that pace and caseload; confirm shift expectations and local program details before applying.

Mission Pet Health

Built In describes a large network with varied workflows and tuition support for some early-career employees who are not credentialed. Eligibility and credential requirements depend on the specific posting, so check both before assuming the support applies.

Blue River PetCare

Built In describes a network in which local medical teams retain patient-care decision-making. The practice environment and role can differ by location; review the individual vacancy and ask how the local team organizes care.

How to find current openings

Use the employer’s official careers portal and search by location and role title. Employer sites may categorize openings as “Veterinary Technician,” “Veterinary Technicians & Assistants,” or similar, so try the wording used on that site as well as your preferred title.

  1. Banfield: Browse veterinary technician opportunities. Banfield describes work that can include patient monitoring, client education, medical records, assisting veterinarians and mentoring, alongside development opportunities and benefits.
  2. VCA: Use the Veterinary Technicians & Assistants career page and its live job search. VCA says it has more than 1,000 local hospitals nationwide and that opportunities change daily; the hospital count is an employer-reported figure, not a count of current vacancies.
  3. BluePearl: Search the Technicians & Assistants career page for roles. BluePearl advertises continuing education, medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement matching, pet-care discounts and flexible scheduling. Treat these as employer-level advertised benefits; confirm eligibility and terms in the specific job offer.
  4. Ethos Veterinary Health: Its careers page lists Veterinary Nurses, Technicians & Assistants and links to openings. Ethos is connected to NVA Group through the site’s navigation, but is not an additional employer in the ten-company shortlist. Ethos reports more than 140 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada and more than 11,000 team members.
  5. Other networks: Search the official careers page for the specific employer and location. Network descriptions alone do not verify that a local hospital has an opening.

Banfield also warns candidates that its recruiting process will not require fees or personal financial details. That warning applies to Banfield; do not assume the same statement is an official policy for other employers.

Compare the actual hospital and position

A recognizable network name is only a starting point. Before applying—or during an interview—compare the details that determine what your day-to-day work will involve.

  • Clinical setting and caseload: Is the position in preventive or general practice, urgent care, specialty medicine or emergency care? Which services does that location provide?
  • Credentials and experience: What credential, license, experience or other qualification does the posting require? Does it distinguish technicians from assistants?
  • Training and advancement: Ask what mentorship, continuing education, tuition assistance or development programs are available to this role, and whether there are eligibility conditions.
  • Compensation and benefits: Use the specific posting and hiring team to confirm pay, benefit eligibility and any reimbursement terms; network-level descriptions do not guarantee them for every position.
  • Schedule and commute: Confirm shift pattern, weekend or overnight expectations, flexibility and the location where you would work.
  • Local workflow: Ask how the medical team divides responsibilities and what a typical shift looks like. The local team’s workflow may matter as much as the network’s broad description.

For current openings, rely on live employer job searches rather than a static list. The number and type of vacancies can change, and a network’s advertised development resources or benefits should be verified against the location and role you are pursuing.

How to interpret veterinary technician job-growth figures

Built In’s October 9, 2026 article attributes a projection of 9 percent growth over the next decade and 13,400 annual openings to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The linked BLS fastest-growing occupations table reflects a newer 2025–2035 projection vintage, modified August 27, 2026, and does not display veterinary technicians among the occupations shown. Those materials do not establish that the two figures are a current, matching BLS forecast for veterinary technicians, so they should not be treated as independently verified current projections here.
