The same home was the site of a 2012 removal of 149 dogs. Later reporting said the rescued animals were adopted, while two residents faced separate criminal cases and plea agreements.
Authorities removed 168 animals
Ogden Animal Services and law-enforcement personnel went to the home after receiving a report of possible neglect. Initial reports counted 152 dogs, then 156 as the operation continued. The City of Ogden later reported the final count: 157 dogs and 11 cats.
The residents cooperated with the removal and relinquished ownership, according to KSL’s May 2025 report. The animals were first housed at Weber County Animal Services and then transferred to the Humane Society of Utah and other rescue organizations for care and adoption.
The same home was involved in a 2012 removal
In 2012, authorities removed 149 dogs from the same home. KSL reported in 2025 that no charges followed that earlier removal. The repeated intervention drew attention to the home’s history, but details from the 2012 case should not be treated as findings about each animal removed in 2025.

What happened to the animals?
The animals received care through county animal services and rescue organizations, including the Humane Society of Utah. Later reporting said all of the animals had been adopted. It also reported that one dog died after adoption; that individual outcome does not establish the medical outcome for the other animals.
What charges did the residents face?
In May 2025, Ogden prosecutors filed hundreds of misdemeanor counts against the two residents. The reported allegations included animal cruelty, public nuisance, failure to obtain rabies vaccinations, keeping unlicensed animals, and a kennel-permitting violation. Charges are allegations; the residents’ later plea outcomes were not the same.

The reported agreements and conditions differ. The available reporting does not establish whether later hearings or changes have occurred, so consult current Ogden Justice Court records for a present-day status.
Why regional cooperation mattered
The scale of the removal required coordination among local animal services, law enforcement, county shelter staff, and rescue organizations. Ogden Police Chief Jake Sube said the case highlighted “the importance of community reporting and regional cooperation,” as quoted in KSL’s May 2025 report.

Was this the first removal from the home?
No. KSL reported that 149 dogs were removed from the same home in 2012.
Were the animals adopted?
Later reporting said all of the animals were adopted. It also reported that one dog died after adoption.
What happened to the two residents’ cases?
Deseret News reported in April 2026 that Miguel Salgado Vargas pleaded guilty to 38 charges, with 30 pleas held in abeyance and specified terms reported. A July 2026 KSL report said Ramon Aispuro-Cano pleaded guilty to 20 counts, held in abeyance for 18 months under reported conditions. Their current compliance or any later court developments have not been verified here.
