Visitors can meet rescue dogs, talk with Woodrock about adoption, browse local vendors or support the event without making an adoption decision.
When and where is the Fourways adoption day?
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 09:00 to 14:00 at Fourways Crossing Bark Park, at the corner of Winnie Mandela Drive, Sunset Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard in Fourways, Johannesburg. These details were reported in the event announcement; check for updates before travelling, as schedules and venue arrangements can change.
Good Things Guy’s event announcement lists the date, hours and venue. The event was also covered by the Fourways Review.
What can visitors do at the event?
Meet Woodrock rescue dogs
Woodrock Animal Rescue is expected to bring dogs for visitors to meet. You can speak with the rescue team about adoption and learn about the animals’ personalities. Meeting a dog is an opportunity to get to know them, not a commitment to take one home that day.

Is adoption expected to happen on the day?
No. The event is intended to help rescue animals meet potential families and give visitors a chance to talk with Woodrock. Smith encourages people to consider carefully whether adoption is right for them, rather than treating a meeting as a promise to adopt. She describes rescue animals as “not ‘broken’, they are simply waiting for the right person to give them safety, patience and a second chance.”
The published event information does not explain Woodrock’s adoption screening process, fees, whether any placements can be completed at the event, or its aftercare requirements. Ask Woodrock directly about those details if you are considering adopting.
