What size litter mat should you get?
Start with the cat’s exit path, not the room’s maximum available space. Measure from the front edge of the litter box in the direction your cat normally walks, then measure the width that needs protection. Record the box’s outside width, the distance to the nearest wall or furniture, and the clearance needed to lift the mat.
Match the mat to the exit

If the box has more than one practical exit direction, measure each route. A single rectangle may protect the main approach while leaving a side path uncovered. In a tight room, positioning the box so the preferred exit points toward the mat can be more useful than selecting a larger mat that cannot lie flat.
Check the lift-and-empty space
Layered and rubberized mats need to be lifted, shaken, vacuumed or rinsed. Leave enough space to pick up the mat without striking the wall or tipping litter back toward the box. Choose a webbed surface when shaking or vacuuming is convenient
The Petmate Paws care routine explicitly supports shaking or vacuuming, with cold-water hand washing for a deeper clean. That routine may suit a utility area where you can take the mat outside or use a handheld vacuum. That means you should expect visible particles that still need to be removed; the material is not described as making litter disappear. Compare the higher-loft or ridged trapping variants with shorter-fiber protective versions, and follow the care label for the specific product.
Choose a raised-edge EVA mat for one-piece rinsing
UPSKY’s listing describes raised edges and rinse-and-wipe care. A one-piece form avoids separating layers, but the raised perimeter can affect how the mat meets a wall or threshold. Check that the edge does not create a trip point or prevent the box from sitting level.
Will a litter mat protect the floor?

Check whether the mat is a fabric or short-fiber protective variant, whether the honeycomb openings are blocked, and whether the cat is stepping beyond the capture area. Drymate’s Q&A specifically says some litter remains on top of the fibers. Vacuum or shake according to the product directions, clear clogged openings and reposition the mat so the exit path crosses its active surface.
The mat slides across the floor
Clean debris from beneath it, flatten curled edges and confirm that the product’s backing is intended for your floor. The mat is too large to clean easily
A 47 × 32-inch mat offers broad coverage but needs a clear route for shaking, vacuuming or rinsing. If you cannot lift it without hitting walls or furniture, a smaller size may be more practical even if it covers less area. Measure the cleaning route before committing to the largest option.
