Listen to the episode and read its official summary.
What episode 62 covers
The conversation connects three subjects: DEI efforts in animal welfare, Jamison’s move into nonprofit leadership, and practical ways rescue groups can work alongside municipal shelters. The episode summary specifically frames rescue organizations as potential supporters of public shelters serving communities of very different sizes. It does not provide a transcript or verbatim quotes from the recording.

Why the municipal shelter and rescue connection matters
Municipal shelters are responsible for animal services in their jurisdictions, while rescue organizations can be part of the wider community response. The episode’s central question is how those groups can support one another, whether a shelter serves a large city or a small rural town. The summary identifies the partnership as a topic but does not detail particular programs or prescribe a single model.

The episode page places that discussion against Jamison’s experience in Dallas. He left his Cleveland animal-control role in 2017 to lead Dallas Animal Services. The page describes his work there as involving a staff of more than 200, relationships with rescue groups, rebuilding the volunteer base, and introducing new programming. It presents Dallas90 as a community goal: people and animals safe, treated with respect, and able to access resources to thrive.

Who Ed Jamison was when the episode was published
The 2021 episode biography says Jamison became CEO of Operation Kindness in March 2021, after serving as Director of Dallas Animal Services and Cleveland’s Chief Animal Control Officer. It also lists him at that time as president of Texas Unites, vice president of the National Animal Care & Control Association, and a board member of the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement and Shelter Animals Count. Those are titles reported in the 2021 biography, not confirmation of current roles.
