Use material and texture as decision criteria, not just scent

Match the routine to your household
- Keep a scoop and waste container near each frequently used box so daily removal is easy to complete.
- Store replacement litter dry and close enough that topping up does not become an occasional chore.
- Track which box receives the most use; uneven use can reveal a location or access problem.

Understanding odor-control claims and the 15-day figure
Fresh Step’s Simply Unscented product page says the litter provides “up to 15 days” of odor control. That wording is a manufacturer claim and guarantee, not an independently established statistic. “Up to” describes a maximum under the company’s stated terms, not a promise that every home will remain odor-free for 15 days. Verify the current package and guarantee conditions before relying on it.
Purina’s descriptions of activated charcoal in Tidy Cats Free & Clean and integrated odor-control technology in Tidy Cats with Glade Clear Springs are likewise manufacturer descriptions. They identify what the company says the products do; they do not establish a comparative winner or a universal duration. No independent source measures which litter smells best in identical homes.
Price, package size, and availability
