Brasken Labradoodles is a California breeder, not a separate dog breed with its own independently established standard. The breeder describes its current program as pairing Labradoodle sires and dams, and publishes approximate size, coat, care, and health information for its puppies. Treat those details as the breeder’s descriptions—not guarantees—and review parent health records and the written contract before placing a deposit.
What is a Brasken Labradoodle?
“Brasken Labradoodle” refers to Labradoodles bred by Brasken, rather than a distinct breed separate from Labradoodles. The breeder says its program began in 2007 and that its current litters come from Labradoodle parents, without Labrador Retrievers or Poodles in those pairings. Those are the breeder’s own history and lineage claims, not independent certification. Brasken’s About Us page describes its mission as providing a family pet through breeding “loving, trusting, healthy, intelligent, and beautiful puppies”; that is the organization’s stated goal, not an independent assessment.

Business records use a different date. The Better Business Bureau profile lists the dog-breeding business in Atascadero, California, names Kristen and Brandon Silva as owners, and records a business start date of July 28, 2021. The breeder’s stated 2007 program start and BBB’s business record date may refer to different things; neither should be substituted for the other. BBB lists the business as not accredited and records a license expiration date of July 28, 2026. Because that date has passed, verify current licensing status with the relevant authority rather than assuming the license is active.

|---|---|
| Mini | 15–30 lb |
| Medium | 30–45 lb |
| Standard | 50–65 lb |
Ask which parents are relevant to the puppy you are considering and what their adult sizes are. A category label and its published range can help set expectations, but they do not establish a puppy’s eventual weight.
What coats and colors does Brasken describe?
The breeder lists fleece and wool coats, with colors or patterns including red, chocolate, apricot, golden, and parti. Brasken describes wool coats as denser and curlier than fleece coats, with greater grooming needs. Coat texture and maintenance should be discussed for the particular puppy rather than assumed from a general label.

Labradoodles should not be treated as guaranteed hypoallergenic. Brasken itself notes that no dog is completely hypoallergenic; people with allergies should consider their own reactions rather than rely on a coat name or breeder claim.
What health information should you request?
Brasken says its breeding dogs are tested for eyes, hips, elbows, and at least eight genetic conditions, and that each puppy receives a veterinary examination before going home. These are breeder-reported practices. Before committing, request records for the puppy’s actual parents and the puppy’s veterinary visit; a general description of a program does not show which tests were performed, their results, or when they were completed.

- Ask for the names of the tests performed on each parent and the dated results, not just a verbal summary.
- Request the puppy’s veterinary examination record and ask what follow-up care is recommended.
- Review the written contract, including what happens if a health concern is diagnosed after purchase.
- Ask about parent temperament, where the dogs live, and what post-placement support is available.
Brasken describes a written two-year guarantee for life-impacting genetic and congenital conditions and says a veterinary visit within 72 hours of pickup is required to activate it. The guarantee’s full terms should be read before paying: confirm which diagnoses qualify, exclusions, remedies, deadlines, and purchaser obligations in the actual document.
How are Brasken puppies raised?
The breeder says puppies are raised in its home, handled and socialized during their first eight weeks, and exposed to household sounds, textures, people, and animals. Ask what those experiences involve for the litter you are considering and, where possible, observe the puppies and their living environment. The description is the breeder’s account, not a substitute for seeing conditions or discussing the individual puppy.

How often does a Labradoodle need grooming?
Brasken recommends brushing several times a week and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks. It says wool coats require more grooming than fleece coats. A slicker brush and a comb can help with routine coat care, but ask the breeder and the dog’s groomer to show you the right technique and schedule for that puppy’s coat. Regular grooming needs are an ongoing commitment, not just a puppy-preparation task.
What should you check before choosing a Brasken puppy?
Compare the information for the specific puppy and parents against your household’s needs. A useful discussion with the breeder should cover:
