Looking for brother and sister cat names? These 120 matching name suggestions are grouped by theme, from familiar character duos to food, nature, and playful contrasts. Treat each pair as a starting point: say the names aloud, notice how each fits its cat, and choose the two you’ll enjoy using every day.
How to choose names for a brother-and-sister cat pair
A shared theme can make two names feel connected without making them sound identical. ASPCA shelter naming guidance suggests choosing names that are easy to pronounce, have three or fewer syllables, feel relatable to adopters, and are simple to remember. Those are practical tips—not proof that cats only respond to short names.

Try saying both names in an ordinary voice, one after the other. If they sound too alike when called from another room, choose a more distinct pairing. Then consider each cat on their own: a bold name might suit one kitten while a gentler one fits the other. Catster’s naming advice is to take time to get to know the cats, be creative, and keep the process fun.
Names do not have to match a cat’s sex, coat color, or personality. Switch the order or mix and match any suggestions below.

Does adopting two sibling cats mean they are bonded?
Not necessarily. Being littermates or siblings does not by itself establish that two cats are bonded or must stay together. Some cats do form a close bond, and an adoption center may identify a particular pair that needs to be placed together.
For example, the ASPCA’s February 8, 2023 story about sisters Luna and Ketchup describes them as a bonded pair who needed to go to a home together. Their adopter, Catherine, said she had initially planned to adopt one adult cat and had not been considering a pair before seeing cats listed for adoption. It is one adoption story, not a rule about all siblings.

Quick checklist before settling on a pair
- Say both names aloud and check that they are comfortable to pronounce.
- Try calling each name separately; choose names that do not blur together.
- Consider whether each name fits that cat as an individual, not only the pair’s theme.
- Pick names you can remember and enjoy using, then give yourselves time to see how they feel.
