What signs can follow Ficus exposure?
Pet Poison Helpline lists decreased appetite, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin irritation among possible signs. The signs and their severity can depend on the plant, amount, route of exposure, and individual cat; the available guidance does not establish a dose that is safe for a particular cat.
If your cat ate leaves or stems, chewed an unidentified plant, or got sap on its skin, contact a veterinarian or animal poison-control service for case-specific advice. If possible, identify the plant and be ready to explain what part was involved, approximately how much, when it happened, and whether signs have appeared. Seek professional advice promptly rather than waiting for symptoms if the exposure may involve Ficus.

- Follow the case-specific advice. Poison-control staff or your veterinarian can assess the plant, amount, timing, and symptoms. Do not rely on a general fruit-safety statement to manage a possible plant exposure.

Cornell Feline Health Center describes cats as obligate carnivores that need nutrients from animal products. Its general treat guideline is to keep treats to 10 to 15 percent of a cat’s daily calories and offer them only occasionally. That is a general limit for all treats, not a fig portion recommendation.
