Can cats eat saltines? Why saltines are a poor cat treat
Saltines are a human snack, not a food formulated to meet a cat’s nutritional needs. Those per-100-gram values cannot be converted reliably to “per cracker” without a stated cracker weight. More importantly, crackers do not provide the balanced nutrition cats need. What to offer instead
For a reward, start with a small portion of your cat’s regular kibble. It is complete and balanced, and VCA notes that kibble can be used as a training reward. If you choose an extra treat, use a small, cat-appropriate portion.
