Yes. Dogs can have a little fresh peach flesh as an occasional treat, provided you remove the stem and pit and cut the fruit into small pieces. Keep the pit away: it can cause choking or an intestinal blockage, and its seeds contain compounds that can release cyanide when chewed.

Dogs eating a complete and balanced diet do not need fruit added to it. Peach is an optional treat, not a dietary requirement.
How to share fresh peach safely
- Choose a fresh peach and wash it.
- Remove the stem and pit completely. Put the pit somewhere your dog cannot reach it.
- Cut the flesh into small pieces sized for your dog, then offer only a small amount as a treat.
There is no universal serving amount established for every dog. Ask your veterinarian what portion, if any, is appropriate for your dog. Too much peach, like an unfamiliar food, may upset the stomach.
Why the pit is dangerous
The pit poses two separate hazards. A dog can choke on it or develop a gastrointestinal obstruction, and the seeds inside contain cyanide-bearing compounds. Chewing the pit can release cyanide. Pet Poison Helpline says cyanide poisoning is unlikely if a dog swallows a pit without thoroughly chewing it, but that does not rule out obstruction; the dog’s size and the pit matter.

What to do if your dog swallowed a peach pit
Contact your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline for advice specific to your dog, especially if the pit was chewed, your dog is small, or you are unsure how much was swallowed. Do not assume the only concern is cyanide poisoning: blockage is also possible. The sources do not establish a universal home-treatment protocol.
Seek urgent veterinary help if your dog is gagging, drooling, vomiting, having difficulty passing stool, showing abdominal pain, or having trouble breathing. VCA lists several of these as possible signs after pit ingestion: VCA’s peach toxicity guidance.
