At Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, an ultrasound revealed acute bowel inflammation. After treatment and a later emergency when she developed a fever and could not eat or drink, she recovered enough to eat comfortably, gain weight and move to a new home.
Why Bella came to Battersea
Bella was two years old when her previous family gave her to Battersea because they could no longer care for her, according to the charity’s case study, published 11 July 2024.
What the veterinary team found
Battersea says its clinic team examined Bella and used an ultrasound, which revealed acute inflammation in her bowel. Her care included a special diet, medication and regular abdominal scans to monitor her condition. The account does not name the diet or medication, give a dosage, or specify the scan schedule.
Bella’s emergency care and recovery
Bella later developed a fever and became unable to eat or drink. Battersea reports that its clinic team gave her emergency intravenous (IV) fluids and antibiotics. She soon ate comfortably again, gained a healthy amount of weight and became ready for rehoming.

Finding a new home

What Bella’s story tells us—and what it doesn’t
Bella’s account describes one cat’s experience: an ultrasound finding, individualized veterinary care, an emergency intervention and rehoming. It does not establish a diagnosis beyond the reported bowel inflammation, explain its cause, or provide a general treatment plan or outcome statistic for other cats. A special diet or medication used for Bella should not be treated as a recommendation for another animal.
