If you suspect your cat has swallowed, inhaled, or otherwise encountered a toxic substance, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic promptly—even if your cat seems fine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear.
What signs can poisoning cause in cats?
Signs vary with the substance and the amount of exposure. A cat may show one sign, several, or none at first; symptoms alone cannot confirm poisoning, and similar problems can have other causes.

What should you do if you suspect exposure?
- Move your cat away from the source. Prevent further contact without putting yourself at risk.
- Call a veterinarian or local emergency veterinary clinic promptly. Tell them what happened and follow their instructions. Do not wait for symptoms to develop or worsen.
- Gather exposure details and evidence. Keep the container, label, remaining pills, or a clear photo of the substance. Be ready to describe what your cat may have encountered, how much, when, and your cat’s age, weight, health, and current signs.
- Follow professional guidance about transport and care. A veterinarian or poison-control professional can assess the case and advise on the appropriate plan.
In the United States, ASPCA Poison Control can be reached at (888) 426-4435. Its service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; a consultation fee may apply. Poison-control staff use the exposure details and the animal’s condition to recommend next steps, which may include home care or veterinary treatment.

It works by binding toxins in your pet's digestive tract before they can be absorbed, allowing them to be eliminated through normal bowel movements. A must have for your pet's first aid kit!
- SUPERIOR MANUFACTURING - PawMergency is proudly made in the USA by a National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) preferred supplier. It’s produced following strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and tested by third-party labs to ensure quality, purity, and potency.
- 2 YEAR SHELF LIFE - After each use, simply put the cap back on the end of the tube and store for up to 2 years in a cool, dry place.
When is poisoning an immediate veterinary emergency?
Go to the nearest veterinary hospital immediately if your cat is having seizures, struggling to breathe, bleeding, not responding, or unconscious. If possible, have someone call the hospital while you travel. Bring the product container, label, or a photo of the substance if available.
What should you avoid doing at home?
Do not induce vomiting or give milk, charcoal, medication, or another home remedy unless a veterinary professional specifically directs you to. Vomiting can cause additional harm with some substances. Cornell Feline Health Center’s guidance is explicit: “DO NOT induce vomiting unless you are specifically directed to do so.”
