CM Punk announced Larry’s death on December 2, 2025
In his public tribute, Punk said Larry died in the couple’s arms and emphasized that their dog was safe, happy, and deeply loved. He described Larry’s life with them through the ordinary moments that had made him part of their family: watching sunsets, chasing skateboards, traveling, and making unfamiliar places feel like home.
Punk also reflected on the way Larry changed both of their lives. Although the announcement confirmed that Larry had recently died, it did not establish that December 2 was the day of death. There has also been no reliable public report identifying a medical cause, funeral, burial, or formal public memorial ceremony.

Larry was adopted from PAWS Chicago in 2015
Punk and Lee rescued Larry from PAWS Chicago in February 2015. PAWS later described him as a difficult-to-place dog who had trust and behavioral challenges and needed a patient, committed adopter.
That history became an important part of Larry’s story. PAWS Chicago presented him as an example of an overlooked shelter dog who could flourish in the right home—not as a “problem” dog destined to remain difficult, but as an animal whose needs required understanding and consistency.
Lee offered additional detail in a January 2026 tribute. In coverage of her public post, she said Larry had been surrendered to PAWS and had experienced abandonment and abuse. Some previous caregivers had considered him difficult, but Punk and Lee felt they understood him and saw him as perfect for their family.

In her own remembrance, Lee thanked people who donated to PAWS Chicago in Larry’s memory. She described Larry as a major emotional support in her life and wrote that, as he grew older, she became his “support human”—a reversal of the many years in which Larry had been a source of comfort and companionship for her.

Larry became a familiar face around WWE
Larry was not known only as Punk and Lee’s pet. He was also a recognizable presence around WWE events and became part of Punk’s public identity. Fans saw references to Larry in wrestling-related merchandise and collectibles, and his name was familiar to people who followed Punk beyond his matches.
WWE separately confirmed Larry’s death and described him as a beloved dog who brought warmth to WWE events. Wrestlers, wrestling media, and fans also expressed sympathy. The available reporting supports describing this as a broad outpouring of condolences; it does not establish that WWE held an official memorial event or that every tribute came directly from a named wrestler.

This was a later reflection on the loss, not a second death announcement. Netflix lists WWE: Unreal as a three-season documentary series featuring CM Punk among its WWE personalities, but the series is broader than Larry’s story. Viewers looking for additional context about Punk and Lee can watch WWE: Unreal, with availability dependent on region and the current Netflix catalog.
Larry’s legacy is bigger than his celebrity connection
Larry’s public story resonated because it combined a familiar wrestling personality with a reminder of what patient shelter adoption can make possible. He entered Punk and Lee’s home with a difficult history and behavioral needs, then became their companion for more than ten years and a recognizable part of their family life.
Punk’s announcement and Lee’s later tribute both focused less on Larry’s fame than on the bond they shared. Their messages remembered a dog who was safe, understood, and loved—and encouraged others to give that same chance to animals still waiting in shelters.
