PetNow was reported in 2019 as a dog-worn camera system that let owners watch live video through a phone app, speak through two-way audio and capture photos or recordings. The camera could also be detached and placed on an included base for stationary monitoring. Those are capabilities described by New Atlas at the time, not independently verified performance claims—and the report does not establish whether PetNow ever reached production or remains available.
How the dog-riding camera worked
PetNow paired a Wi-Fi camera with a soft, lightweight, breathable harness. The harness carried the camera with the dog, offering a view from the animal’s position; an iOS or Android app provided remote access, according to New Atlas’s August 15, 2019 report.
The article specified live 1080p video at 30 frames per second when an internet connection was available. It also described two-way audio, night vision, video recording and still-photo capture. These are the report’s stated features, not independently tested measures of image quality, connection reliability or performance in low light.

The convertible setup was the product’s practical distinction: the camera was not limited to following the dog. New Atlas did not report battery life, reliability testing or how dogs might react to a voice coming from the device, so those points cannot be assessed from the article.

What the 2019 campaign and prices do—and do not—tell you
New Atlas described PetNow as the subject of a Kickstarter campaign and reported a US$79 pledge tier and a planned US$169 retail price, conditional on reaching production. Both amounts are historical campaign-era figures from August 2019, not current prices. The report does not establish the campaign’s outcome, whether the product shipped, or whether it has current support or availability.
How it differs from a dog action-camera mount
The report also named GoPro and Sony dog harness mounts as accessories for attaching action cameras and recording a dog’s point of view. That is a different use case from PetNow as described: an action-camera mount supports point-of-view footage, while PetNow was presented as a connected monitoring system with live phone viewing and two-way audio. New Atlas did not establish current stock or compatibility for those mounts, so check current product details before buying.
