Dogster says the review was created in partnership with Fido Fave, which compensated the publisher for its time and editorial work; it also says the opinions and ratings remain its own. Chewy’s page displayed 4.6/5 from 157 ratings when accessed. Customer comments include reports of lifting hidden hair, as well as a complaint about performance on sculptured carpet. These are individual customer anecdotes, not controlled tests or representative proof of how the rake will perform in every home. Which carpets and rugs are a good fit?
Best fit: regular low- and medium-pile carpet
Dogster identifies low- and medium-cut-pile carpets, frieze, conventional synthetic rugs, and carpeted stairs as better use cases for the standard model. The metal side is intended to reach hair caught among carpet fibers. Follow the manufacturer’s advice to rake in one direction and test the tool on a hidden area first.
Use caution on delicate or loose-fiber surfaces
Dogster cautions against using the standard rake on delicate, flokati, or very long loose-fiber rugs. Fido Fave recommends the all-rubber edge for delicate fabrics and reserves the metal edge for carpets and rugs. Test an inconspicuous spot before broader use; the product guidance does not establish that any surface is immune to snagging or damage.

For shag or deep pile, check the separate model
For shag and deep-pile rugs, Dogster points readers to Fido Fave’s separate high-pile rake. The manufacturer describes that model as having an extra-long silicone edge and positions its metal edge for standard carpet and stairs. - Choose the edge for the surface. Use the metal-and-rubber edge on carpet and rugs; use the all-rubber edge on delicate fabrics, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Test a hidden spot. Check the surface before working across a visible area, especially if its fibers are delicate or loose.
- Rake in one direction. Fido Fave recommends single-direction strokes with the metal side rather than working back and forth.
- Collect the loosened hair and dispose of it. The rake gathers hair; it does not extract dirt or debris as a vacuum does.
What the review can—and cannot—tell you
Dogster’s published score and described home test offer a useful account of one reviewer’s experience, with the compensation disclosure attached. Chewy’s ratings add customer impressions but are not a controlled comparison. Neither source establishes a universal result, cleaning-time advantage, or improvement to vacuum performance. Your carpet construction and the amount and condition of the hair may affect what you see.
