Adoption fees were covered for ten cats at the Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County in Redwood Valley, according to a local report published October 5, 2026. The offer and the cats’ availability can change, so call the shelter before making the trip.
Which cats were included?
The October 5, 2026 report by Lisa Music for Redheaded Blackbelt says sponsors covered the adoption fees for ten cats pictured on the shelter flyer: Yoshida and Senba, plus Boomer, Ragamuffin, Jasper, KC, Bunkers, Pink Lady, Script, and Fizzarollie. The report attributed this message to the shelter’s post: “These sweet felines are completely free to adopt and ready to bring unconditional love, purrs, and companionship into your home!”
That describes the offer when reported, not a guarantee that a particular cat is still available or that the sponsorship remains in effect. Check the shelter’s official website for animal photos and details, then call to confirm both before traveling.
How to Adopt
Check the current visit schedule
The shelter homepage lists adoption visits Wednesday through Friday, 1–5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. It says no appointment is needed. Hours can change, so verify them with the shelter before setting out.

Meet the cat and discuss fit
The report says visitors can meet a pet, complete an application online or in person, and talk with staff about whether the animal is a good fit. Ask staff about the cat’s needs and your household; the fact that a fee was sponsored does not replace the usual matching and application steps.

Can’t Adopt? You Can Still Help.
The report describes a separate monthly-donation appeal from the shelter, with examples of $10 for food, $25 for vaccinations and basic medical care, and $50 or more for care while animals wait for homes. These are examples from that appeal—not adoption fees or required donation amounts. The shelter’s donation information is available through its official website.
