How well does the Frisco box control litter scatter?
The high walls address scatter from digging or kicking toward the back and sides. In a Cats.com review, the reviewer said, “Even my most enthusiastic cats haven’t been able to flick litter out of the back and sides of the box, although some litter escaped from the entryway.” That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guaranteed result for every cat.
The open front is the main containment trade-off. Litter can still travel out through the entrance, so this is a partial barrier rather than a fully enclosed litter box. Some Chewy customers also report that the sides and back catch litter that would otherwise escape.
Can it help with a cat that sprays?
Chewy describes the tall sides and back as helping keep outside-the-box spraying to a minimum. The walls may intercept some spray directed toward them, but an open pan cannot contain every cat’s urine: a cat that stands to urinate or sprays high may still send urine over a wall or through the lower entry. The available sources do not establish a universal result.

Will the size fit your cat and your space?
Chewy lists a medium variant with “18-in” in its name and an extra-large variant with “24-in” in its name. Those labels should not be treated as usable interior floor dimensions. Listing and customer Q&A references are mixed, and some buyers say the base feels smaller than the nominal measurements suggest.
Before ordering, measure the floor area where the box will sit and compare it with the pan’s usable interior floor area. Consider whether your cat can enter, turn around, and adopt its usual digging and elimination posture without being cramped. A large outside measurement does not by itself establish how much room the cat has inside.

The extra-large US listing displayed 4.8 out of 5 stars from 7,870 ratings when accessed in October 2026. That is a changing retailer rating, not a controlled product test or a representative survey.
Chewy presents the product as Frisco by Chewy and describes it as BPA-free, recyclable plastic. Those are retailer product claims, not independent material or environmental findings. A Chewy Canada medium listing was marked discontinued; that regional status does not establish availability in the US or other markets.

How easy is it to clean?
Chewy says to spot-clean the pan and wash it with soap and water. The open top gives direct access to the inside, although removing the pan for a full wash still depends on your space and how it is positioned. Liners are optional and are not included.
A Chewy Canada Q&A identifies Frisco Litter Box Pan Liners as a fit for this box. Confirm the liner size and regional product listing before buying, since that answer does not verify every liner variant or market. One Chewy reviewer described using a two-layer litter mat to catch granules tracked from the entry; a mat is optional, not part of the box.
