A full-grown Pomsky commonly weighs 12–35 pounds and stands about 10–18 inches at the shoulder. That is a useful planning range, not a guaranteed adult size: Pomskies are a Pomeranian–Siberian Husky cross, and there is no single universally accepted breed standard.

Most Pomskies reach their adult height at approximately 10–12 months. Larger individuals may continue gaining muscle and body mass after their first birthday.

How big does a full-grown Pomsky get?

For most adult Pomskies, a reasonable expectation is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Height: approximately 10–18 inches at the shoulder
  • Weight: approximately 12–35 pounds
  • Adult height: usually reached by around 10–12 months

These figures describe a broad adult range rather than a promise about any individual puppy. Some published references use different boundaries because the Pomsky is a developing crossbreed, not an American Kennel Club-recognized breed with one mandatory size standard. The AKC’s current recognized-breed list does not include the Pomsky.

Pomsky size categories

The American Pomsky Kennel Club’s 2025 standard uses height at the shoulder as the primary way to classify size:

Category Height at shoulder Average weight
Toy 11–13 inches 7–15 pounds
Mini 13.01–16 inches 12–20 pounds
Standard 16.01–18 inches 20–35 pounds

The club emphasizes height over weight because weight is affected by bone structure, body length, sex, muscle, and body condition. A taller, heavier-boned Pomsky may weigh more than the typical figure for its height and still be healthy.

Other references divide the sizes differently. For example, a PetMD Pomsky profile lists Toy as under 10 inches and Standard as 12–18 inches, with overlapping categories. These inconsistencies mean that terms such as “Toy” and “Mini” should be treated as descriptions used by a particular breeder or organization—not universal classifications.

Why adult Pomsky size varies

The two parent breeds have dramatically different adult sizes. The AKC lists the Pomeranian at approximately 3–7 pounds, while the Siberian Husky generally weighs about 35–60 pounds and stands roughly 20–23.5 inches tall, depending on sex.

A Pomsky can inherit different combinations of size, bone structure, body proportions, and growth rate from either side. Two puppies from the same litter may therefore mature into noticeably different-sized dogs.

  • 【 1+1 PACK 】- 1 Harness + 1 Leash, Great value!

First-generation Pomskies are usually produced from a Siberian Husky dam and a Pomeranian sire because of the parents’ size difference. Artificial insemination is used for these pairings. The breeding method does not, however, make the adult size predictable.

Does the generation tell you how large a Pomsky will be?

No. Generation labels describe ancestry, not a guaranteed height or weight.

Label Meaning
F1 Pomeranian × Siberian Husky
F2 F1 Pomsky × F1 Pomsky
F1b An F1 Pomsky crossed back to one of the foundation breeds
Later generation Additional multigenerational pairings

Generation can affect the likelihood of inheriting particular traits, but actual adult size depends more directly on the sizes and genetics of the parents, grandparents, and individual puppy. The claim that F2 Pomskies are always smaller is not a reliable size rule.

When is a Pomsky fully grown?

Most Pomskies are small-to-medium dogs and reach adult height at around 10–12 months. A larger Pomsky may continue filling out—developing muscle and body mass—after its height has mostly stopped increasing.

Growth depends on genetics, expected adult size, nutrition, health, and environment. It is therefore more accurate to say that most Pomskies reach adult height by about their first birthday than to claim that every Pomsky is fully mature at exactly 12 months.

How to estimate your Pomsky puppy’s adult size

The best prediction comes from documented family information and the puppy’s own growth pattern. Use these steps:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Ask for the parents’ adult measurements. Get their actual heights and weights, not just labels such as “mini” or “standard.”
  2. Look at grandparents and previous litters. A breeder’s records showing how related puppies matured can be more useful than the generation label.
  3. Track growth over several months. Regular weights and shoulder-height measurements show whether growth is slowing or continuing.
  4. Have your veterinarian assess development. A vet can evaluate body condition, skeletal development, and whether growth appears appropriate.

Do not treat a single shortcut as a dependable Pomsky formula. “Double the four-month weight,” “double the six-month weight,” F1-versus-F2 claims, eye color, and the puppy’s position as the smallest in the litter are not universal predictors.

How to measure a Pomsky’s height

Breed-size references mean height at the withers, or the top of the shoulder blades—not the top of the head, ears, or fluffy coat.

  1. Stand your Pomsky naturally on a level floor.
  2. Do not measure while the dog is crouching, stretching, or sitting.
  3. Place a flat object, such as a book or ruler, level across the highest point of the shoulders.
  4. Measure vertically from the floor to the underside of the object.

Take the measurement more than once if your dog is moving. Coat volume can make a Pomsky look considerably larger without changing its actual height.

Is a Pomsky’s weight within range?

A scale number alone cannot determine whether a Pomsky is at a healthy size. An adult dog may be above a published range because it is tall, long-bodied, or heavily boned. A dog within the stated range may still carry excess fat.

Use weight as one piece of information and ask your veterinarian to assess body condition. In general, the ribs should be easy to feel without being prominently visible, and the dog should have a visible waist when viewed from above. Your vet can account for the Pomsky’s individual structure rather than applying a target number intended for every dog.

What do “micro” and “teacup” Pomsky mean?

“Micro,” “teacup,” and “extra-small” are marketing terms, not universally recognized Pomsky size classes. Even Pomsky organizations use different terminology: one page may use Toy, Mini, and Standard, while another uses Micro, Mini, and Standard.

Breeding specifically for extremely small dogs can increase health concerns. PetMD cautions against treating “teacup Pomsky” as a formal variety. Before choosing a puppy advertised with one of these labels, ask for the parents’ verified adult sizes, health information, and records from previous litters. A label by itself does not establish how large or healthy the dog will become.

Planning for your adult Pomsky

If you are preparing for a puppy, plan for a dog somewhere in the 12–35-pound range unless reliable family records suggest otherwise. Choose a crate, harness, collar, and bed that can be adjusted as the puppy grows rather than buying only for its current size.

For food, follow your veterinarian’s or food manufacturer’s puppy-feeding guidance and adjust portions as growth changes. Avoid trying to speed up growth so the dog reaches a desired size; excessive weight during development can create avoidable strain. Regular veterinary visits are more useful than online size calculators for deciding whether growth is on track.

Common size claims to question

Claim What the evidence supports
Every Pomsky weighs 15–25 pounds. Published adult estimates extend from about 12 to 35 pounds, with some standards listing a wider category range.
Pomskies are always under 20 pounds. Some adults exceed 20 pounds; the APKC Standard category extends to 35 pounds.
The generation guarantees adult size. Generation describes ancestry. Parent size and individual genetics matter more.
Toy, Mini, Micro, and Teacup have universal definitions. Different organizations publish conflicting boundaries, and some terms are marketing language.
A fluffy coat means a larger dog. Coat volume changes appearance, not shoulder height or body weight.

FAQ

What is the average size of a full-grown Pomsky?

Most adult Pomskies are approximately 10–18 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 12–35 pounds. Individual dogs can fall outside those estimates.

At what age is a Pomsky fully grown?

Most Pomskies reach their adult height around 10–12 months. Larger dogs may continue filling out with muscle and body mass after their first birthday.

Are F1 Pomskies bigger than F2 Pomskies?

Not necessarily. F1 and F2 describe the dog’s ancestry, but neither label guarantees adult height or weight. The sizes of the parents and wider family are more informative.

How can I tell how big my Pomsky puppy will get?

Ask for the adult heights and weights of both parents, review grandparents and previous litters, track the puppy’s growth, and have your veterinarian assess development. No single weight-doubling formula works for every Pomsky.

What is a teacup or micro Pomsky?

These are not universally recognized size categories. They are marketing terms with inconsistent definitions, and breeding for extreme smallness may increase health risks.

Is the Pomsky recognized by the AKC?

No. The Pomsky is a Pomeranian–Siberian Husky crossbreed and is not currently an AKC-recognized breed with one required AKC size standard.

The Bottom Line

Most full-grown Pomskies weigh about 12–35 pounds and stand roughly 10–18 inches at the shoulder. Their adult size can vary substantially because they combine two very differently sized breeds. Parent and family records are more useful than F1, F2, Toy, Mini, Micro, or Teacup labels, and most Pomskies reach adult height by around 10–12 months.
