Adopters draw for one of three outcomes: a waived adoption fee, half off an adoption, or a candy treat bag. Standard screening still applies.
When is “Ghouls Just Wanna Have Homes”?
The promotion runs October 1–31, 2026, at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter in Calvert County. The county announcement does not state the odds of drawing each outcome or how many of each prize are available. The offer is limited to the promotion dates and should not be assumed to continue after October 31.
What can adopters draw?

- Half off an adoption
- A candy treat bag
The draw does not guarantee an adoption or replace the shelter’s regular screening. The county says “Standard adoption rules still apply” to help ensure safe and appropriate placements.
What animals are available?
The county says animals of all ages and varieties are waiting, including dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, and goats. Individual animals and availability can change, so check the shelter’s official adoptable-animal listings for current options before visiting.

What does adoption include?
According to the county, every adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a starter-care package. The county announcement does not specify what is in that package.
Where is the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter, and when can I visit?
The shelter is at 5055 Hallowing Point Road, Prince Frederick, Maryland. The October promotion notice lists adoption hours as Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Call 410-535-7387 to schedule an appointment, and confirm current hours before traveling, especially around holidays.

The shelter’s official page says Monday is open for reclaim and surrender only, and Sunday is closed. For adoption visits during the promotion, follow the Tuesday–Saturday schedule in the event notice.

If adoption is not right for you, the shelter’s official page also provides information about fostering, volunteering, and donations. The Southern Maryland Chronicle reported that the shelter and its friends group sought community help with fosters, supplies, and adopters after a large animal-control case in August 2026; that report did not provide an intake total.
