The first Golden Tails Gathering brought 267 golden retrievers and around 450 people to Golden, British Columbia, on September 26, 2026, according to a report by KelownaNow. The inaugural event drew visitors from across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
What happened at the Golden Tails Gathering?
Golden, BC, hosted the inaugural Golden Tails Gathering on September 26, 2026. The event welcomed 267 golden retrievers and around 450 people, KelownaNow reported on October 4, 2026. The report does not describe how attendance was counted, so these are reported figures rather than independently verified totals.
Attendees travelled from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, as well as Washington, Montana, Minnesota and the United Kingdom. The report does not give a breakdown of how many came from each place.
Why did the organizer start the event?
Organizer Andrea Tubbs said she was inspired by Goldens in Golden, an annual gathering in Golden, Colorado, which began in 2019, according to KelownaNow. The Colorado event is separate from the one in British Columbia; the two towns share a name, but the gatherings are distinct.

She said the gathering was intended not only as a dog event but also as a way to give people a reason to visit Golden, showcase the community, support rescue organizations and bring together people connected through their dogs.
