Mack, a Great Dane, had other plans for his owner’s painting session: according to DogTime’s report, he became fixated on the cup of water set out with the paints and tried to drink from it.
What happens in the clip
DogTime reports that Mack’s owner had arranged paints, brushes, paper and a cup of water for an art session, with a black plastic sheet beneath the supplies. As the owner tries to keep him away from the painting area, Mack focuses on the water cup and attempts to drink from it.
The report credits the Instagram account @itsmackandme. Its description supplies the details above; the Instagram post itself was not independently reviewed for this account.
The joke behind Mack’s interest in art
The uploader’s caption, reproduced by DogTime, says: “Really glad he’s taken an interest in the arts.” The clip’s on-screen text reads: “Trying to have a hobby when you have a Great Dane.” Both lines frame the interruption as a joke about trying to pursue a hobby with a large dog nearby.

Is drinking from the art cup a Great Dane trait?
This clip does not establish that Mack’s behavior is typical of Great Danes, or explain why he chose the painting cup. DogTime recounts audience reactions, including one anonymous commenter’s observation: “Give them a bowl of water they will not drink but they will drink from this.” That is an individual comment, not evidence of a breed-wide habit.
The report does not say whether Mack does this regularly or how his owner finished the painting. It supports a funny interruption, not a conclusion about his usual behavior or a training explanation.
