A lake has no fixed size or water chemistry, fish differ in their responses, and “electrocute” might mean stun, injure, or kill. Electricity in water does not create a uniform lake-wide dose: its effects depend on the electrical field around the electrodes and on where each fish is in that field.
Why there is no lake-wide number
To calculate a meaningful amount, you would first need to define the lake, the fish, and the intended outcome. Lake dimensions and water conductivity affect how current behaves; species, size, orientation, and location affect how a fish responds. Exposure duration and the electrical waveform also matter. The sources available do not establish a figure for killing every fish in a lake, and converting an equipment voltage or power rating into a lake-wide lethal dose would be misleading.

Professional electrofishing works by applying electricity in an aquatic habitat to sample or control organisms, as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service defines it in its Electrofishing Safety policy. It is not a charge that spreads evenly through an entire lake.
What changes the effect on fish
Current type and waveform
Alternating current (AC), direct current (DC), and pulsed DC can produce different responses. Depending on the conditions, fish may avoid the field, swim involuntarily toward an electrode, experience sustained muscle contraction, become temporarily stunned, or die. These responses are not interchangeable: a setting that immobilizes one fish does not establish a lethal dose for every fish nearby. The USGS fish-sampling protocol describes these response types and the role of waveform.

Water conductivity and field strength
Conductivity is a major constraint on electrofishing effectiveness. In low-conductivity water, less current flows and the useful field is limited near the electrodes. Higher conductivity changes how the field is concentrated and can increase the risk of fish injury, so professional equipment must be adjusted for the conditions. The electrical effect also weakens with distance and is altered by the surrounding environment; a fish far from the electrodes is not exposed to the same field as one close to them.
Species, fish position, and exposure
Species respond differently, and an individual fish’s size, orientation, position in the field, and time exposed can all affect the result. A fish may escape or avoid the field, while another in a more intense area may be immobilized or injured. The endpoint matters too: the conditions that cause avoidance are not necessarily those that cause injury or death.

Electrofishing is not harmless
Electrofishing can cause spinal injuries, internal hemorrhage, stress, and death, particularly with excessive exposure or poor handling. A 2003 USGS report notes that spinal injuries and associated hemorrhages had been documented in more than 50% of fish examined internally in some instances. That figure describes those examined fish in the cited reports; it is not a general injury rate for all electrofishing or all fish. The report also stresses that outcomes vary with species and conditions: Electrofishing and its harmful effects on fish.

Could a live wire fry all the fish?
There is no sound basis for assuming that putting a live wire into a lake would expose every fish to the same lethal effect. Electrical effects are localized and uneven, while fish occupy different distances and positions and respond differently. Some could be unaffected or escape; others could be injured or killed. That uncertainty does not make the idea safe: USGS field guidance warns that electrofishing energy is sufficient to cause electrocution: A Guide to Safe Field Operations—Surface-Water Activities.
Electrofishing is hazardous to people as well as fish. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service policy sets training and certified-leadership requirements for its covered personnel and volunteers; those are agency-specific rules, not a universal description of every jurisdiction. Do not put live electrical equipment into a lake or attempt to electrofish it.
