It was not described as a veterinary treatment. The product details and customer examples below come from a 2021 account and should be read as historical, not as confirmation of PigFlow’s current features or availability.
What do a pig farm and a hospital have in common?
Both depend on people noticing individual needs, carrying out the right tasks at the right time, and sharing information so care can be adjusted. In its August 5, 2021 article, Successful Farming described SwineTech’s PigFlow as a way to make those farm processes easier to communicate and manage.
CEO and cofounder Matthew Rooda characterized PigFlow as a platform to “implement, track, and adjust on-farm processes from any place at any time.” In that account, the focus was on coordinating workers and making activity visible to managers—not on replacing animal-health expertise.
How the reported PigFlow process worked
Successful Farming laid out a six-part feedback cycle for farm work. The idea was to connect expectations with action and then use results to inform decisions:
#1 Best Overall
- Goals and expectations: Set out what needs to happen.
- Communication and training: Explain the work and prepare employees to do it.
- Behavior and action: Workers carry out the task.
- Completion and compliance: Record whether the expected action was completed.
- Results and outcomes: Review what followed from the work.
- Evaluations and decisions: Use the information to adjust routines or expectations.
Rooda described it as a continuing feedback loop that could apply to day-to-day work, onboarding, and introducing technology. The article’s account is a historical description, not current product documentation.
What FarrowTracker was reported to do
Successful Farming described FarrowTracker as a PigFlow feature for monitoring sows around farrowing. It said the tool recorded sow checks, allowed a manager to set how often a sow should be checked, and kept a rolling tracker of sows giving birth and the time remaining until their next check.
Rank #2
Rooda said producers had seen improvements in stillborn birth numbers, but the article did not quantify an outcome specifically attributable to FarrowTracker. The tool was described as helping organize checks; the source does not establish that it independently diagnoses or treats animal-health problems.
What the 2021 farm example showed
The article profiled Hord Family Farms’ 5,000-head sow unit in Bucyrus, Ohio. Casey Long, who oversaw the unit, described using PigFlow for timely adjustments, process changes with FarrowTracker, and team messaging. Long said a real-time management snapshot helped the farm adjust to the herd’s needs. This is one customer’s reported experience in 2021, not evidence that every farm would achieve the same result.

Historical reach, performance claims, and price
The figures in the 2021 article were reported by SwineTech and were not independently verified in that account. They should not be taken as current results or a guarantee for an individual farm.
| Figure | What the 2021 account said | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Nearly 25,000 sows and more than 500,000 piglets | PigFlow’s reported U.S. management reach | SwineTech figures reported by Successful Farming in 2021; not a current usage count. |
| Nearly 10% more efficiently | Reported farm efficiency improvement | SwineTech claim reported in 2021; the account does not give a measurement method. |
| Up to 15% | Reported reduction in stillborn deaths | SwineTech claim reported in 2021; not independently confirmed there or established as a current result. |
| 50¢ per sow per month | Price quoted by Rooda | Historical 2021 price only; the account does not establish today’s price. |
How SmartGuard fits into the company’s history
A separate 2021 secondary account discussed SmartGuard, a piglet-crushing detection development. That historical coverage does not establish that SmartGuard is currently available or that it has a current Amazon listing. It should not be confused with the PigFlow and FarrowTracker workflow described in the Successful Farming article.
Rank #4
A 2024 episode listing for The Swine it Podcast Show describes Rooda discussing precision technology, computer vision, voice recognition, and wearables. That is context for the company’s stated technology interests, not evidence of current PigFlow or SmartGuard specifications or availability.

The 2021 account illustrates a management approach, but it cannot answer practical questions about a current offering. A farm considering workflow software should confirm the product’s present availability and capabilities directly, and assess whether it fits the work it needs to coordinate.
